Update:  It was the obscure Windows 10 thing!  My laptop lives!  It took some shenanigans to get enough charge into the battery to get it to power up, but once we got in, we disabled the Windows power manager thing, and the installed a patch from the Dell support site, and my laptop has been behaving as normal ever since.

I'm so glad I don't have to buy a new computer.  My husband's phone has developed a fault where it keeps rebooting itself while he's using it...  he's very sad.
Oh good news! New computers are expensive here.

Is it possible the battery is dying in your husbands phone? Mine did a lot of weird things when that happened. Might be worth having it serviced depending on the age. (I usually make mine last 3 years)

It seems to be something more serious.  But we got these phones in the summer before we moved... a little over 3 years ago.   ::)  But it holds a charge just fine.  And it experiences the same fault even while connected to the charger.

I'm really glad, too.  I wasn't worried about loss of files or anything, as most of the stuff I use regularly is in the Cloud.  But I like my laptop.  And I didn't want to spend money on a new one.

Has he done a full factory reset yet? I would do that, and then rather than get all the apps from backup install fresh from the app store after getting the OS up to date. It could be a fault with the hardware, but that would rule out dodgy software glitches.

hehehe  Oh, yes.  He's attempted all the things.  At one point it was pretty nearly bricked because it rebooted at a crucial stage of the factory reset.

Aw man. That stinks. I've been really happy with my new phone and it's camera if that helps, so much better than the previous one! It's really amazing how much technology we now hold in our pockets.

I have the same phone my husband has, and we've both been really happy with it for these past three years until this happened to his. (It's the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, though we both would forego the "edge" bit next time.)  It really is amazing what we carry around in our pockets!  When my laptop was having issues, I just used my phone as a backup computer, and I was able to do all the day-to-day tasks with it... browse the web, manage my budget and other spreadsheets (Google Sheets!), manage email, communicate, watch films... my phone is smaller, but it was more than adequate while I figured out what to do with my laptop.

On the other hand, my husband's phone is kaput, and he can't carry his computer around in his pocket, so he's feeling a bit icky when he leaves the house.  :P

I usually buy Cravendale... it's part of their  sales pitch that their milk is filtered to make it last longer, and so far, I've found this to be true.
Hubby prefers Cravendale and that's what we always get. It's never been bad before the date and usually good well past it.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Painsomnia is my IA tonight. I almost fell asleep but my husband was alternating between talking to himself and snoring, so that in combo with pain meant no sleep. Now I'm on the couch with my electric blanket.

I had a rough week, but felt a bit better today so I went grocery shopping. I love grocery shopping because its a chance to get creative and make my husband happy since he's been doing nearly all the cooking and cleaning the last few months. But shopping also meant putting the bags from the cart into the car. And whatever I did to my back means lifting anything hurts. Not always at the time, but later. Every day by the time I get home from work I can barely lift my water glass without pain. They ordered an ultrasound to check for torn muscles and upped my pain meds last week, but the test is not scheduled yet and pain meds barely touch it. :(

Also have a huge pit in my stomach about whatever will happen in Parliament today. I hope I can sleep soon!

You can use my card anytime.  Just PM me your address and I'll send it to you.
I don't go often either for the same reason.

Aww, that's sweet... thanks.  :-*
But there'd be no point, as I couldn't afford to buy anything once I walked through the door!

I waited until 2pm to do the grocery run because Met Office website said there'd be a break in the weather.  If anything, it got worse at 2pm.  Black double-drippy clouds with wind gusts up to 50mph!

Now I'm back in warm/dry PJs and my clothes are drying in another room, and I'm slowly getting back to normal.  Meanwhile, the forecast is showing black double-drippy clouds with yellow and amber rain warnings through tomorrow.  Blah.  But the shopping is done, and I even brought almost all of it in and put it away.  Almost.  I don't need Coke that badly, and my husband can bring his own beer in.  I'm done.

I left my purse at my friends house and hit low fuel driving home. So now I have to borrow money to get diesel to pick it up tomorrow. *sigh*

And there's a Halloween party tonight, but all I want to do right now is sleep! I shall put on some makeup and be social though, it happens too rarely. We didn't get costumes and due to the purse snafu wasn't able to go out today to try and remedy that.
