I've got two.  Both annoying customers IAs.

1.  There's this one woman who comes into the shop and has to ask me a dumb question every single time no matter how busy I look.  And she calls me "ma'am" (though she's much older than me) but pronounces it like "mom" which is very annoying in itself.

This time she says, "Excuse me "mom", where are your cookery books?"  Now it is quite obvious that are books are in no particular order whatsoever.  "They aren't in any particular order", I replied.  "Well it would be a good idea if you put them in order." she says with a smug smile.

I'm fuming at this point.  I'm doing the job of two people for two weeks so far working 6 long days a week with not enough volunteers to even begin little jobs like that.  [smiley=juggle.gif] I said, "We just don't have enough volunteers for that right now."  She looks at me with an even bigger smug smile and says, "It's just a suggestion." and walks out.

The little bi@tch!!  Does she apologize or even offer to volunteer herself?!  Of course not.  She's just finding joy in finding fault.  [smiley=shout.gif] [smiley=bomb.gif]

2.  An unruly toddler was being "overseen" by his father and grandmother in the shop.  The little boy grabbed a necklace off the wall display and broke it.  I asked them to please pay for it.  "No, we refuse to pay for it" were the exact words.  They then left the shop.  I was flabbergasted as obviously this is a charity and the damn thing only cost £1.99.  :o what an example to set for your child.

my IA is sort of a double edged sword, my job interview yesterday went super well, the CEO said "well as far as I'm concerned, this has been fantastic" and that they'd let me know by the end of the week. I'm totally on edge waiting, the more I hear about this project the more I want to work on it, I just want to know! It would just be too perfect :/

That sounds super promising, good luck!

Thing 2 had to be picked up from because he isn't feeling well. I had plans for today to make a Costco run and wax off two caterpillars that are growing on my forehead. So now I'll have to look like a bushy freak of nature until the middle of next week.

Oh yeah, and I'm really not a heartless mom. I do hope the kid is okay. He did seem to perk up as soon as we walked into the house.

That was me yesterday.  It ended with going to bed at 8:30 just to make the day end faster.   :-\\\\

I hope you feel better soon!

My IA, no ground clove at the supermarket (well, nothing at the supermarket at all, really, because of the snow) so now I have to be un-lazy and try and grind some up with a rolling pin since I have no mortar and pestle!

I've been searching all over for cloves, ground or otherwise! And allspice, and basically anything more complicated than cinnamon.

My IA: Bought my kitty a collar at the vet today, and immediately cut the bell off. In doing so, I gave myself a giant blood blister on my finger, which is now bugging me to no end.

PB - I hope your month takes a miraculous turn for the better. Things just keep piling up, don't they?

NoT - I've yet to find ground cloves  :-\\\\

My IA: Well after whinging yesterday about not feeling bad enough to really complain, my fever came back and I spent most of the night gasping for breath. We called the advice nurse and she kept telling me what I should do for my nose being congested (take Sudafed, breathe steam, see a chemist in the morning) and ignoring the fact that I couldn't breath because my throat hurt too much, whether I was trying to breath through my mouth or my nose. For that she, with much prompting, suggested paracetamol and staying hydrated. I took the advised drugs and was higher than a kite, still having trouble breathing, and no chance of sleeping what with the Sudafed. I did manage to get an appointment with a doctor and he confirmed the fever, said there's definitely stuffiness everywhere in my head, being sick this long is cause for concern, and eventually came up with a penicillin alternative (I'm allergic) that I could take with my inhalers, and the pill I'm on. And I should keep taking the Sudafed, and taking paracetamol.

Meh.

Tesco has ground cloves.

BUT usually at this time of year they have a special display somewhere nowhere near the spice section that has all of the christmassy spices needed to make christmas cakes/puddings hidden off in a corner.

It is sometimes an end cap, but often is a stand alone cardboardy cut out type thing.

Thanks guys for sharing in my spice-filled woe.  :)

My tiny Tesco actually has quite an impressive spice section for how little it is, and I'm fairly certain ground clove was there a few weeks ago, but I was making apple cider then and wanted the whole cloves.  ::)

It would appear that with all the milk, eggs and bread freak-outs that happened with the snow, people wanted to bake some holiday stuff as well and bought out all the ground clove.  ???  Bookgrl, I thought that might be the case, and from what I could tell they did not have anything like that set up but I might check again.

I had a dig through the spice cupboard and realised that I do have Mixed Spice, which has ground clove in it, so I might just use some of that.  It's gingerbread cookies so it's not absolutely crucial as I have everything else, but it would be nice to have that clove-y goodness in there.
