Why can't you have tea or honey??

My IA: the ex wants to send the kids back home early this weekend (they've been at his place). That's not fair to me OR them. :(

Caffeine and botulism? But it's actually not true regarding the botulism and pregnancy as the spore in honey is killed in your digestive tract and wont hurt your baby, however it is still true about giving honey to young children/babies :) So enjoy your honey! :)

You're the one who decided to move to the North Pole!  :P

In my defence, I was here last year and it didn't much get bellow zero and everyone was complaining about it being the worst winter in almost two decades so I can't help but feel bait-and-switched  :-\\\\ Not that I wouldn't have moved here anyway.

Walked in the door after our flight from the US to water all over the floor, soaking wet carpet, and a completely shorted out kitchen. Great.  :-\\\\

Did he say why? (Not that there's a "good excuses", I was just curious if he had one)

Yep on both -- at least as far as a lot of the guidelines go.  I have to admit that I haven't followed the OMGDONOTEAT pregnancy food list, with the exception of the common sense stuff and the stuff that I didn't eat anyway. (Which I think is like making a to-do list with things you've already done.)  Man, that stuff gets out of control fast.  I wish I could remember where I read that pregnant women should only have the first portion out of a container of anything (ANYTHING?) and then toss it because of the contamination/spoilage risk.  Holy overkill!  But that's a whole other IA.   :P

Ahhh, see I usually bought decaf tea as a general rule anyway. Caffeine gives me heart palpitations. But I agree about the honey. That's probably overkill so I say good for you - drink up!

Then you can relate to how I feel - the first several years I lived here (from 2004 onwards), although depressed that the weather wasn't like it had been in south Florida (bye bye sunshine!), having lived in the Midwest before (most of my life), I found the winters here relatively mild by comparison to those.  Cue shock & horror last year & this year, when the absolutely horrid weather that I moved away from Kansas (to south Florida) to escape finally arrived here.  :o >:(

Talk about being lulled into a false sense of security, or bait-and-switched.  :-\\\\

The idiot electrician who installed our extractor fan in the bathroom and broke the seal on our hot tap seems to also have broken our hoover.  I'm so not impressed.   ::)

ETA: Apparently I'm my own IA.  I sucked up a pen with the hoover which was what caused the problem.  I've been banned from hoovering for the rest of the evening.

Sorry, missed this earlier. Yeah, he's got an excuse. He's always got an excuse. And in this case, no, it's not a good one. Though of course, he would beg to differ. :P

Or this!!

Sorry about the water everywhere. :(

My IA- I know I should be thankful for having so much tutoring, but I have to go spend 2 1/2 hours of my Sunday afternoon tutoring 2 kids today for the final exam which is Tuesday. I already had 2 kids tomorrow after work and 5 extra hours after school just wouldn't be possible for me all at once, so I split the work into 2 days. I just hate having to give up my time when all I want to do is relax. At least it's money, especially in light of the fact that we had a faux snow day this past Thursday. Roads were icy in the morning, so they just cancelled the whole day instead of having us come in later so they call it a furlough day and not pay us.  ::)

Sorry this is such a long one, but I need to vent it, so here goes:

I called DSS's mum this afternoon to tell her the snow was dropping thick and fast in our area and that DH needed to bring DSS back ASAP before the roads were blocked up. She said she had plans for lunch and some shopping, that it wasn't really snowing that much where she was, and that her and her boyfriend would come get him themselves when they were finished with their plans. I told her that it was likely they wouldn't be able to get into the village if they left it too long. She said it would be fine. Well, DSS is very ill with a heavy cold and high fever and has been feeling miserable. We lost all power for a few hours and so had no heating. DH phoned her again and said for her to get over here to get him ASAP if she was coming, as he is ill and we had no heating and the roads were thick with snow and it was still coming down. She said she was going over to her dad's to pick up some xmas presents first, then heading over. We told her to hurry.

Well, her car and her boyfriend's car both got stuck in the snow and they had to abandon their cars. By this time, the power was back on, and I can't go to work anyway, so it is fine for us to keep DSS a few extra days (though he was crying for his mummy since he isn't well.) So a few hours later, I sent her a message to ask if she was okay. She calls back a little while later, had managed to dig out her car and get home, but she was crying because DH had basically said "I told you so," etc. to her on the phone, which she didn't want to hear, and she felt guilty, and she wanted to speak to DSS, who sounded miserable and started crying once he heard her voice on the phone, which made her more upset. And so on and so on. She got all dramatic saying we hated her and thought she was stupid and all sorts and then she said she was going to try to come out and get him. DH flipped out on her saying she was going to endanger DSS's life just to prove a point. It's been going on all night, and I hate being in the middle. DH doesn't have much tact and no patience at all when it comes to her, and him calling her melodramatic and telling her to lay off hasonly made things worse.  :-\\\\ :-X :-[ Roads are now closed between our house and her's and it's still snowing, so I think DSS will be here for a few days before we can get him home and I'm afraid she is really going to freak out.  :-X :-X

What a horrible situation Jewlz.  Big hugs to you and your dss!!!  It's so important that everyone is safe, fed and warm for now.  The rest can be sorted out later.  I hope he feels better soon.

How awful, Jewlz. I hope your DSS feels better soon! (I'd also hope that your DH and the ex calm down, but that sounds less likely. I'm sure it'd be nice, though!)

Thanks, guys. Hopefully we will be able to get him home today somehow, but I think we have about 8 - 10 inches of snow, so maybe not! Anyway, I'm taking good care of him, so he will be fine.  :) Not sure about mending things between DH and his ex, though. I think our invite for Christmas Eve might have been tossed out!  :P
