There is NO snow here.  We had about 1/4 of an inch on Saturday and while I don't want 2 feet, but SOME snow would be nice.

Okay, I'm the one who wished for snow.  But now our pipes are frozen.  None of the loos work, and there is no hot water!  My husband is afraid that the auxiliary water heat blew because no water was coming to it.   And I have house guests coming next week. Yikes!

At least the boiler is still working, so we have heat, but we are all looking (and smelling - I have a teenager) a little mangy.

A bit angry at the weather and/or Heathrow situation. My parents are supposed to be flying into tomorrow a.m. I'm not at all hopeful that's going to happen. My son is going to be crushed if his Nana and Papa can't make it for Christmas :-[

my inconvenient annoyane is that we are supposed to fly to the states Thursday for Christmas from here in the UK...I am trying to think positively I don't want to think any negative thoughts...but everyone just has to keep putting their 2 cents or 2 pence if you like in on it and say I don't think you are going to get to fly out ...it doesn't look good...just let me think positive so I can go home don't try to be all doom and gloom

My head cold has turned into an epic cold of doom. Woke up at 8am (after going to sleep at 10pm) and had to really force myself to get out of bed. Walking 10 feet to the bathroom and back exhausted me. :(

I'm going to see the GP in a few minutes, so perhaps s/he'll help, but I'm sure I'll just get the generic "I'm sure it's a virus, let it run its course" thing.

I'm supposed to be at work, kicking butt on my first day. :(

FWIW, I think if you're flying later this week, you'll be fine. :) And if BAA can't manage to sort things out at the airports *by* then, I suppose we have bigger problems to worry about.  ::)

Enjoy your trip! :)

Indeed, this is what I got. Also found out I have a fever of 101, though, so at least I have a good reason to stay home. (Still don't want to, though!)

Ohhh, I am so with you in the illness club... I haven't left the sofa for three days! I hope you start feeling better soon!

I'm still only in the first three months of my job, so any day I don't work I don't get paid.  :-\\\\ Most annoying is that even if I were feeling well enough to work, there are hardly any trains running from here to get to work... despite it not snowing since Saturday.
I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.' Kurt Vonnegut

Hope you feel better soon! (Also hope it doesn't take 3+ days to get over this not moving thing.) My new job is a contract role, so I'm with you on the no-show-up-no-pay thing.

I'm within walking distance to work, so the weather isn't really an issue, but the fact that I need a breather after walking 10 feet doesn't help me much.

Just found out my coworker threw out his back on arriving to work, so he's not in either. So I guess at least I wouldn't have been useful if I'd gone in anyway (since I'm supposed to be learning the ropes from him pre-xmas).

I am HOPEFULLY flying out on Wednesday from Heathrow JEP, so I know how you are feeling!

Mine IE is related:
I saw this BBC clip http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12036189 which made me irrationally angry.

I am sure she knows just what it is like being homeless, as she was flying her whole family out to Bali (where lots of homeless people go for the holidays) and she had to wait out a delay, overnight in a safe, warm, dry place with access to food, water and toilets. It must of been horrible for her and I am sure there will be an epic movie about it someday.  >:(

There has to be a passenger that I could be sympathetic to somewhere in LHR, but all of the people I have seen interviewed are missing out on going to DisneyWorld or Sharm El Sheik. What about the rest of the people like us who are going to go a year without seeing their immediate families? blah.

Anyhow, I hope everyone that is down with one of what seems to be 100 different viruses that are going around feels better soon!

Ya know...I just just kidding when I said this but it looks like it's actually happening!

Sympathies. This + fever was pretty much how my swine flu felt for nine days. :(

But on the upside, once it passed, I've felt much better. I'd say I'm back to about 90% now, and last Tuesday was my first day back at work.
