Also, the news is saying that cold and crappy weather is going to last until April. SIGH.  :\\\'(

Blech! I'm so sick of being cold! I want to be outside! I took a two and a half mile walk this morning because at least the sun was shining...but I was still frozen when I got home.

Re: the check-out line.

One of the tricks I learned when I was pushing the granny trolley around was to lay out my items on the conveyor in the order I wanted to pack them.

All heavy, boxy things at the front of the line, all light or crushable things at the back.

My aunt and uncle are having a family gathering/chili dinner this evening AND friends have invited us to their MMA fight with free tickets... and I have to work. :(

There will be other family gatherings, and the friends are a married couple (he is a former UFC fighter) who run their own local but growing MMA fight business, so there will be more opportunities to go. Just wishing I was off work to go to both. Time wise, we could do both.

Totally. This seems so obvious to me, and yet DH, who spent his entire life bagging his own groceries in the UK, doesn't seem to get it. Stuck in his ways, I guess.

I've had an IA morning: A guy came in to the communal fitness room at my building today with his Bose stereo system and started blasting music without any care to anyone else who was using the room. Entitled little #&*$*%. I am so sick of rude neighbors who have no respect for the other people who share walls with them.

Oh, I got a new one today! FIL loves withholding info - I'm lying in bed this morning at 8 am halfway awake and almost have a heart attack when I hear someone tearing the plaster off the ceiling below our closet and the airing cupboard in our room. (downstairs bathroom ceiling)  After 30 minutes of hearing plaster being tore off and the room full of plaster dust I'm a little bit annoyed.  I keep remembering those commercials from the US flash in my head for calling a 1800 number to sue if you have mesothelioma.   [smiley=shout.gif] Hope they are finished soon, but I doubt it. I really hope there is no asbestos I'm breathing in.  :-\\\\

So yeah, only 4 more hours of choking on plaster dust before I can go to the library, the only place where it's free to sit and hang out in town.  [smiley=disappointed.gif]

You can say that again.
It is difficult to speak adequately, or justly, of London. It is not a pleasant place; it is not agreeable, or easy, or exempt from reproach. It is only magnificent... the biggest aggregation of human life, the most complete compendium in the world.

Hotels! I just booked one night in a hotel in DC in the £300-night price range, and the wifi isn't free?!? Seriously! You can take your complimentary pricey bath crap and designer bathrobes, just give me some damn internet, that works, and that I can connect multiple devices to without having to log out and back in every 30 seconds, ugh.
Summer 97 - first visited friends in London

Yea, lower-end hotels tend to have free wifi and really expensive ones don't, unless you have elite status. I think it's because they assume that people who spend that much on a hotel won't care and just pay/expense it to their employers.

Though on the upside, the National Parks people just proclaimed that peak cherry blossom time will be 3-6 April (and we're there 2 days later), so my hotel room just got that much more valuable. My friend in DC said hotel rooms can triple during cherry blossom time!  :o
