That just sounds horrible StealthG -  I know moving out can be really hard, but it seems like you'd better off moving somewhere, anywhere -flatshare, longer commute, etc- than staying there -for your emotional and physical well being!

My thoughts exactly! I'd rather put up with a lot of inconvenience than live with someone like that!

I totally agree,  ;D it's something we are hoping to do as soon as I can get a job (Soon I hope, I'm really irritated at how long it is taking) and we can afford to.  Right now we have no savings due to visa expenses, unfortunate past events, some involving FIL cutting of DH's pay months ago, etc. We are hoping to get a flat share in the future. Sorry for my rambling.  Some times it gets so frustrating that just typing it out makes me feel a bit better.  I really hope none of my rants make anyone feel uncomfortable...  I'm seriously considering writing a book about my experiences living here, a horror novel if you will.  ;D

Sent 3 important emails yesterday/this morning that require response and still haven't heard anything. I hate trying to be patient.

Got my toe caught under the leg of the folding chair I was sitting in. It's bruised and it hurts.  [smiley=shout.gif]

Absolute torrential downpours on my way into the office this morning. I walk 3/4 mile to the PATH and then 1.1 miles from the PATH to my office. I was absolutely soaked, even with my boots and and umbrella. I sat barefoot in the office all day while my socks could dry out and they were still damp 8 hours later.

The real kicker was that it stopped raining exactly one block from my office and didn't rain the rest of the day!

Poor toe!  :(

Mine: Seriously painful, very uncomfy, heat producing sunburn. I still forget how much easier it is for me to burn here than over there. We weren't planning to be out long, just to do some pointing and discussing while standing by the area where we are going to lay brick under the swing. We were just going to get an idea for what we were going to do. That lead to mocking up the design, then putting the bricks back before digging. The plan is to have it sunken into the ground so that the lawnmower can go over it.

It is going to be a long, miserable night, and a factor 70 and t-shirt kind of day when we work on it tomorrow.

Thanks! :) It is tender but not as painful this morning. Looks like I am well on my way to healing. Surely this time will be the one to remind me to wear sunblock... ? You'd think after a lifetime of burning easily I would remember.  ::)

You're not the only one who doesn't learn from their mistakes.   ::)  Yesterday was beautiful and I knew I'd be out all day, so I put lotion on my face (SPF 50) but figured I'd be wearing my cardigan all day so didn't put lotion anywhere else..... well, I've got a pretty red chest today thanks to the sun.   ::)  Whoops.  Aloe Vera time!  :)

My strangest burn was whilst travelling in Northern Ireland in May a few years ago.....  ???

Be careful out there, folks.  The sun can be treacherous.  I was never a sun-worshipper and have used moisturizers with SPF ever since they came out. However, I ended up with a basal cell carcinoma on my face. You gotta re-apply the sunblock stuff every 3 hours.  I've heard that covering up with clothing is more effective than sunblock (go for both!)  L.L. Bean, Eddie Bauer and Columbia make various items with a high SPF.

Thanks, BostonDiner!

I usually get a fresh bottle of SPF 50 sunscreen at the start of summer.  :)  Got a new one last week- just in time for sunny weekend!  My daily face cream is SPF 50 (Neutrogena.... can't find the specific one here, so my parent's are bringing me some when they visit end of this month! woohoo!) so I rarely get burnt on my face.  :)  It's usually just my arms, shoulders and chest that get burnt.   :-\\\\

The past few years, I've gotten kids sunscreen (not the coloured stuff, just sunscreen intended for kids).  I figure that kid's skin is more sensitive than most adults, so it might be better for me since my skin is sensitive to the sun.  :)

It can't hurt, right?  The SPF is higher than average adult stuff (30 seems normal for adults but it's so easy to find 50 for kids!) and it still protects from UBA & UVB.....

I'm not sure if my logic is really sound, but I hope it's helping a bit more than normal adult sunscreen.   ;D

There's a very good chance we're going to have to delay our trip to Ireland until later in June, thanks to delays with US immigration. Fortunately, we only need to change flights as we're staying with family/friends and we haven't booked a car just yet. But, if we DO get to go, we'll be booking a car at the last minute and automatic cars can sometimes be hard to come by.

Most car rental companies don't make you pay upfront and don't even require a credit card to hold the reservation so it seems like there's little to be lost by just booking the car in case.

I do worry about skin cancer, and have been trying to protect myself from it (for the most part) for quite some time. It is just once in a while I have a lapse and forget. I had too many burns to count, every summer in childhood, but back then (I just turned 42), people didn't worry so much about sunblock and skin cancer, and a golden glow was THE thing for summer.
