I totally agree with everyone else, StealthG- reading your posts here and a bit of your blog, you really should take this opportunity!  It sounds fantastic and I think you'll be glad if you do it.  :)

After being a raggy B to DH about moving to Scotland he finally agreed. I just sent the lady an email today - the position has been filled. I really don't know what else to say except I am pissed right now. It was an opportunity I don't think I'll be seeing again as most employment agencies already told me that they will not help me find a job because of my employment gap and I missed this job because we couldn't move because DH has to keep his barely 10k a year job and not move away from his friends. I can't help but want to be a monster to DH when he comes home today  >:(

Sorry it didn't work out, StealthG.  Hopefully another opportunity will come around and you can take it!  :)  It sounds like you really need to get out of your FIL's house.   :-[

Bummer StealthG.  Try not to get too down.  If this job came up, there will be others.  Now you know you can jump on a new opportunity.

Oh dear, StealthG - I don't blame your being mad at your DH either!  :(

Is there any way you could put in a word to this place (in Scotland) to keep you in mind or in their records, just in case the candidate they chose doesn't work out? I mean sometimes people change their minds & don't follow through on a new job, or decide shortly after beginning that it's not for them or find something else, etc.

DH and I have started house-hunting, and found a place we really like. Called up today to put in an offer, and there's already another offer for the full asking price.

No idea which one they'll accept, but waiting (patiently) is not my strong suit.

Continuing from my last IA...

...we won't hear anything until next week sometime, because the vendor wants both parties to get "approved" by the estate agent's mortgage advisor. We can't see him until next week, and the other buyer hasn't booked in yet, so who the hell knows how long it'll be before the vendor decides anything.

The annoyance is at myself.   ::)  I take full responsibility.

I got an email about a job application and I was so eager to respond quickly, I didn't think it through and assumed the name Emer was a man, so I addressed it 'Mr xxx'.   :-[  Hit send and THEN realised it might be female.... I can't find the specific person online, but it does seem it's a female (Irish) name.   :-[

Hoping it's forgivable since it's not a common name, but I'm still kicking myself.   :-[

Yes, Emer is an Irish woman's name. Sorry.  :( I hate when I do that kind of thing for something so important.

Yeah.  :(  I should have thought of that since her surname is Irish..... but I was just focussed on her first name and related it to Omer or Emre (men's names).  :P

Anyway, SHE just wrote back to the two emails- the first answering her questions and the second a quick apology- and she said it's fine.  :)  Hopefully she means it and I didn't just shoot myself in the foot.   ::)

Touch wood!  :)

I'm sure you're not the first! I wouldn't worry about it. I once had someone address me in an email: Dear Dr Mrs Smithsonian Institution. See, you could have said that!  :P
