My dermatologist in the US is leaving the university health centre to set up in private practice.  And I still need full skin exams which are not covered by NHS.

Listening to the downstairs neighbors across from us having what seems to be an outside party after 10:30 pm despite the fact it is about 11 degrees out, with a windchill in negative numbers. They are very loudly rapping with a LOT of swearing. Someone has been kicking the stairs or a wall to keep a beat. There are young women giggle squealing from time to time as they run in and out the door. The last time this went on it was after 4 when it finally settled down. We get up at 6 for work. Hubby is sick with a cold and needs sleep. I hate to be the jerk neighbor who calls the police to report a disturbance, but surely common sense would tell these kids other people live nearby.

Ah, the joys of living in a town with a university.

That's far worse than an inconvenient annoyance, Wren.  So sorry to hear of all your losses.
So very sorry, Wren. One is hard, but when they come so close together, it is harder to process. Give yourself time. No one grieves at a set rate, or in a set way. With some people the pain will have flare ups years and years later. You will find your balance in time.

Wren, I'm very sorry for your losses.

Thank you all for your condolences.  I know overall it IS far worse than an inconvenience, but golly on a day to day basis it sure can feel like one sometimes--or at least a series of little ones.  Now that things have settled down and I have some perspective again, I just find everything infinitely more difficult.  Dad watched the girls while I worked out, or went out to the store, and sometimes he cooked dinner.  And he was always around to listen to me sound out my ideas or vent.  It's not JUST that I miss HIM, but also everything he was in our everyday lives. Unlike when I was grieving for my Nana and baby cousin, I do not have anyone at home all day to help me pick myself up or keep an eye on the kiddos. Sadness is also annoying as hell. It makes you tired and I'm a GOGOGO person. I had given up coffee completely, and now I'm back on 2-3 cups a day.  I am truckin along, though.  We are moving to a smaller flat in the complex [he died in his sleep in this apartment and I just DON'T wanna be here], so that will help with the $$ savings for our hop across the pond.  $140 less per month in rent! yay!  And also less space to prepare us for our future reality.  I'm lookin' up, but every day is a new challenge sometimes.

Hubby happened to check on our flights this morning, and our flight from Evansville to Atlanta changed, so that we'd be arriving in Atlanta 25 minutes AFTER our flight to Manchester takes off.

A quick call to Delta fixed things, and we are now on an earlier flight to Atlanta.

What really chapped us was, we had no notification from the company we booked though letting us know of the change. If we'd waited til closer to time to look, we may not have been able to make the change if the earlier flight was full.

Progressive double charged us two months in a row, out of our old checking account that was tied to our last policy, and our new account tied to our new policy. The old account is mainly kept open because sometimes mom will put cash in instead of buying gifts for Christmas or birthdays, and we can buy what we want with the money. Because we don't use the account much we hadn't been monitoring it, and were $140 overdrawn after two payments and two fees for insufficient funds.

After a call to Progressive, being politely annoyed with them, they sorted it to put the money back, fees included.

Wanted to order some trousers from the Craghoppers sale but the size kept getting messed up.  The person on their "Chat" was obviously not a native English speaker so wasn't solving the problem and eventually disappeared!   ???  I gave up in the end.

It is really frustrating to get a non native English speaker, and having their grasp of English being so minimal that you both want to scream in frustration. When I asked one recently if I could speak to her manager, hoping that would get me someone I could actually get somewhere with, she assured me she was her own manager. In fact, everyone was their own manager.... um, honey, I doubt that. A bit of talking got me someone with a slightly better grasp of English, but only slightly.

I understand the purpose of outsourcing, but surely companies would see it is in their best interest to have some English classes offered before putting people on the phone.

My annoyance for the day: calling a company here in the UK and dealing with someone who wants to get off the phone as soon as humanly possible. I get that they're busy, but not listening and cutting people off is just plain rude! This happens to me on a regular basis and I'm fed up with it. :o

I've had that both sides of the Atlantic, and it is annoying. The latest one I had wasn't wanting to listen to what I was saying, and wanting to argue with me to shut me up so he could get off the phone. He was even rude enough to hang up on me! The call was over an extra charge to our account when we booked flights.

Because he refused to listen to me, the $70 that needed to be put back into the account was put back as pounds and ended up being $116. It was a British company that also had a US phone number based in New York for American customers.

You poor thing! Big ouch! Pamper yourself and get others to pamper you until it heals. :)
