So they FINALLY took all the dehumidifiers and fans out of our apartment this morning, but I still can't rehang the lamp over our bar OR clean the carpets because they still have to seal and paint where all the water came through.  This is mentally wearing on my OCD brain.  Also, on a related note:

My Dog was dripping blood on the carpet out her butt, and then had red liquid diarrhea this morning.  Off to the vet we went and she has pancreatitis :( Still waiting to hear back about her progress, and worried sick. All of our schedule will be put on hold til she's better, the cost may put off our next visit to the UK and perhaps our move, and the fact that I can't clean the carpets with all this nervous energy is driving me CRAZY.  I just hope she's okay.

Wren - we just went thru this with our dog last week. I found out I had been giving her denta stix for her teeth and that is what triggered it..they are SUPER high in fat. It cost us £300 for a overnight stay in the Vets, blood work and meds. Thank God she is much improved. We have had to look at her diet as well and have found a very low fat dry dog food which the Vet approved. But he did say once they get pancreatitis they will always be prone to it... :-\\\\Hope your fur baby will be ok.

Over a month later, and I'm still apparently in the naughty corner. I can't work out if I am more sad, or more annoyed, by all of this. Overall, I think it is ridiculous.

Since joining up with Delta, Virgin Atlantic have screwed up their connecting flights.  E.g. evening flight from Boston gets you to LHR too late for morning "Little Red" to Manchester so you have to wait until 5:00 PM.   >:(  Making BA look more attractive.

Yikes! Hope they get their stuff together before October! We're with Delta for our trip, but it is showing we will be on Virgin Atlantic from Manchester to Atlanta for the return trip. I'd hate to be in Atlanta for hours and hours before our flight to Evansville, then the hour drive home.

Still, it is April and that is October, so I won't be worrying about it until the time comes.

Yes, hope they iron out the wrinkles, Tama.  It seems there is an earlier Delta flight from Boston that would have gotten there in time for the Little Red to Manchester -- only the Delta flight costs more than the V/A one!!  Also, DS was peeved that they threw him out of the Virgin lounge at LHR (he has 'Gold') at 11:30 AM because they close down.  So he had to sit around at the departure gate staring out the windows until 5 o'clock!  Not fun.

Sounds like he had a bad experience with them all the way around. What is the point of having a lounge if you are going to close so early and not let people access it? That will get them a rep for bad customer service all the way around. Once you achieve 'gold' or any priority status, you should have access to things like that. I could see it being closed late at night, but not in the morning and afternoon. Poor guy!

Sorry for your troubles, Wren -- and especially hope the dog will be OK.

Thanks BD, she's much better now.

They did the same here MS, it was over $360, but they let us make payments.  Our new vet is SO MUCH BETTER than our old one in town, and cheaper.  Guess there are some perks to the burbs after all, eh?  I think our problem was unsupervised outside time at my grandparents' [their house is in a large pecan orchard].  On Easter. With small kids feeding her boiled eggs and who knows what else and my Pa feeding her crappy ultra cheap dog food.

Continuing adventures of DS:  he was scheduled to fly back to US yesterday by way of Manchester to LHR to Boston.  He had arranged a limo service through Virgin to drive him to Manchester airport (He's really into milking his Gold status!!)  It's a no show so he phones the limo company who have no record of booking.  Virgin says they have it on their records so they agree to reimburse a taxi to get him there on time, plus an upgrade, added air miles and will hold the plane briefly if necessary.  So we pile in a taxi and the guy goes like the clappers over the Pennines in pouring rain (of course) and we get there in good time.  He checks in and goes off thru security, etc.  We go for coffee and he texts that plane is being delayed (weather).  Finally leaves and he just about makes it to LHR only they won't let him board because of transfer of luggage!  Virgin offers to put him on a BA flight but he refuses (good job as that flight was delayed 4 hours in takeoff!)  So they agree to put him up in a hotel, load him up with food vouchers, free Wi Fi and book him on today's flight.  They took off on time and he just texted from somewhere over the Irish Sea  ;)  So pretty inconvenient but shows if you stick to your guns you can get around it.

Wow! We aren't gold by any means, but this sounds like a travel nightmare. I agree about sticking to your guns. Our flight times from Evansville to Atlanta on the way out keep changing. We've gone from a 2 hours layover, to now 6. We are currently looking at being in Atlanta before we originally needed to leave our place for the hour drive to the Evansville airport.

Still keeping my fingers crossed they have all this silliness ironed out by September.

Hello all. I am back. Some may remember me. I stopped coming here for almost a year because my situation at home was so bad all my posts just seemed to reflect it. I felt like I was bringing things down if you get me. Anyway, many changes have happened. Some of you may have followed my blog and kept up with me. If not: DH and I finally escaped the hell that was my FIL's house. We moved in with other people which isn't the best, but it is much better than things were. I hope to visit the site more often now.

Now for my small IA: I am finding it hard to get a job that pays the same rate for everyone. I was paid less then advertised in my last job and I just turned down a job that was shady and I found out they were posting on polish immigrant club forums for the same job for more plus a raise after training. I pointed this out and was told that they didn't post this ad, then they called me back and said they did 8 or 9 years ago. The club wasn't founded until end of 2009 and the website probably wasn't created until later, not to  mention the ad was on the first page of advertisements. I told them no thank you. Basically the job was cleaning up ... erm human waste and I don't mean garbage all day so wasn't pleasant anyway. There's more to the story on the shadiness but the pay really just irked me and the lying about it.

StealthG, it is good to read that you are out of that awful situation with your FIL.
You might not be in your ideal place at the moment, but it does sound like life is a lot better for you nowadays :D

So happy to see you back, and I'm dancing with joy to hear you are out of that awful situation. I can't begin to imagine what that was like. Even if where you are now isn't what you want, it is definitely a step in the right direction.  [smiley=hug.gif]

Keep on searching for a job. I gave up too easily. Well, maybe not too easily, because I searched for the bigger part of 3 years, but there were gaps in searching because of frustration. When Subway told me I didn't have enough UK work experience to work there I came a bit unglued on them. I managed a Subway before moving to the UK. Surely knowing how to do EVERY task and detail of working in the building would be more valuable than what country I had done it in. There is something out there that isn't shady or sh*tty.
