Oh Boston Diner!!!! We were definitely raised similarly w/r/t baths. We didn't have a shower when I was a kid, and I was also in a household where you got (at most) about 2 inches of water, got in while it was still somewhat warm, got as clean as you could, and out you came.

When I was older I sometimes emptied the tub, allowed myself another 2 inches, and tried to rinse properly and remove the residual grunge I always felt was still there.

I never could understand how anyone liked to 'soak' in bubble bath - purely a function of never having had the experience, and possible my loss, but too old to change now.  ;D

For the past 50 or so years I can count the times I've had a bath on one hand. Just prefer a shower. DH, on the other hand, loves the occasional soak (after a shower) and fills the tub to almost overflowing. He also complains that our *modern* bathtub isn't deep enough, and would love an old-fashioned high sided one, which I do NOT like at all.

Yes, being pregnant was nearly impossible.  Another feature I wish they had is a broader rim to the tub so you can sit comfortably on the side to soak your feet.  Would probably make it easier to clamber in and out too.  The hotel I was in recently had a grab bar and non-sip surface at the shower end but because of the position of the sink unit you had to shuffle along holding the slippy (narrow) rim before you could heave yourself out.

Vadio, sounds like we were 'brung' up in the same way!  For my first 7 years we lived downstairs in my great grandmother's house and there was no bath tub at all.  My parents would sheepishly go upstairs once a week to use Nana's bath room but I got washed in the kitchen sink mostly!!  Probably fear of Nana's disapproval of using too much water is why we had to be so stingy!  ::)

Easy, just take it out and leave it:  in a laundry basket, in front of their door or next to the washer, if you're being nice; in a pile somewhere, if you don't care about nice.

It's a system that's worked pretty well in every communal laundry room I've ever seen.

My boss came into the office yesterday (I work at a campground) and informed me that they (campground is owned by a couple) would be going away for the weekend so the office needed to be open until 9 pm every day.  We are desperately understaffed with just two people expected to work 9-9 shifts very day.  Due to the lack of available staff members, we had to switch to a 10-4 schedule until the end of the season.  Anyways, there I am on Thursday being told that I am expected to stay from 10-9 all weekend!  I said I could pick up 5 hours on Sunday night but, other than my scheduled shifts, I am unavailable at such short notice.  Good thing I finally have a projection on when I will be moving because I am ready to be finished working there.  The couple are lovely people but terrible employers.  Ah, well, at least I get paid.

Nosey neighbors emailing our estate agent because we parked a car on our own strip of grass for a couple hours while MIL was in town and we were out to eat.

Not sure the bonehead who lives behind us knows the meaning of "SHARED parking space," so we were sort of forced to get creative... Not that it's our neighbor's business, anyway. *grumble grumble*

Houseguests...
My brother and his SO are staying with us.  They have been very helpful, but since it's been several weeks [6? 7?], I'm just starting to feel a bit crowded.  And my brother is bi-polar and regularly wakes up in a truly awful mood, which often ruins my day. Pregnancy exhaustion coupled with an exhausting person is just starting to wear on me.  Hopefully they will have enough to buy their planned camper, and they'll be out of here!

Sadly, I can completely relate, Beatlemania! My "kill time before I move to UK" job has been a crazy 6 months as assistant manager for a local family-owned restaurant. Deep down they are nice people, but horrible to work for! The owner is severely bi-polar and goes on crazy mood swings. He is never around, and so basically leaves me to run the place. I honestly don't know what they are going to do once I leave. I gave them loads of notice I'll be leaving, and they haven't hired anyone to replace me. I've been doing a manager/owner's job for the past month or so with no actual training/promotion/raise. I am fed up!

I would have quit by now, but it doesn't make any sense to leave when I can make a bit more cash before my move. The stress of this stupid job coupled with missing my husband and waiting on UKVI has really taken its toll on me! I was sick Thurs-Sun with a terrible cold, and it's still clinging on with residual congestion. Ugh!

Whew, feels good to get that out. ::)

Oh man, jaidedwings!  That does not sound fun at all.  I finally did give them my three week notice yesterday but, since I do all the scheduling anyways, choosing when I leave is kind of up to me.  I only started working there in June and have practically been running it since August.  We have one other person in the office and one more who will return in the summer (she's a teacher) but all the other office employees have left.  They are always complaining about how they have no one in the office but won't train the lady in the concession stand who wants more hours and will be here all year round!  Hopefully you will hear back soon and can give them your notice.  Then it's up to them to figure out how the restaurant runs once you're gone.

Prior to our trip,  MIL,  BIL and his family decided to plan a meal at a car very to celebrate our visit. They decided it was happening, they chose the place,  and we just found out yesterday WE are paying for it. We have the money,  so that isn't the problem.  It is that it was thrust on us, without any decision making involved so they can celebrate our visit,  then with about 28 hours warning we find out we are expected to pay. We'd look like shits if we said anything, but we are both a bit miffed.

A similar thing happened to us a few years back. Invited out, no special reason, but when the tab came, we had to pay.

As you say, if you say anything somehow you look like the bad guys. It's a horrible position to be in; not a nice thing to do to anyone.
