Wow lorena, I would have been super annoyed!

Funny enough, it's about food and the structure of the day for us as well. My future sister-in-law is a wedding photographer and is advising me of the layout of the day and how I need to do things but we're not doing anything traditional. We're doing things OUR own laid back way. I also keep getting told that my future mother in law will do our buffet and I don't want her to do my buffet (we weren't even sure we were doing one in the first place). Apparently they have already called around to pubs to see if I can have my reception there. How very kind of them...ughhhhh.

I am waiting until I am back in the UK before saying anything so I can have a nice sit down with the fiancé first to outline what it is we want for sure and get everything booked, but if they keep pushing before then I just might have to speak out now!

Thanks for the space to rant!! This has been eating me up! I think it's because I have been super stressed over the visa process and this just pushes me even further.

Little late on this post big my MIL is doing the same things. We had a big symbolic ceremony in Mexico.. We chose to not make it legal there for several reasons including them needing us to have blood work done and the marriage certificate wouldn't be in English. So now that I'm in the UK were just going to the registry for the legal side of it. She wants it to be this big thing kind of got upset when we told her we only booked the room for six people(mind you we are paying for it), and is insistent on coming up this weekend to discuss our flower and cake options. We don't need that! I think three people are attending. But when we tell her that she doesn't listen. I know it sounds petty, and I may sound rude but I just don't want the fuss of anything big we've already done the big wedding in Mexico.

Cheers, Erica

Nothing huge in the grand scheme of life, but I am a girl, so it still seems pretty huge...

Sandal and flip flop weather is fast approaching and my toes are mangled and have developed calluses in places from wearing steel toes at work. ACK!

Easy solution.  Move back to the UK where we do not have flip flop weather and keep 'em covered!  :P

I can handle that!  ;D Hubs and I are considering it for sometime in the future, just not sure how soon. It was his silly idea to move back here anyway, because he liked living in Indiana for the 4 1/2 years he was here before we went there. I was content with summers that didn't involve horrid humidity and the potential for triple digits. I wilt at about 75 - 80f, so anything over that makes me hide indoors.

Having to buy a temporary license plate for the car, for less than 30 days, for half the price it would be for a year. Grrrr!

The new jobs we have are taking us to Kentucky. Their laws state you have to get KY plates and driver's license within 30 days of moving. That in itself is no problem. However, the Indiana plates expire the 14th of this month, and we don't move until either the 21st or 30th.

We can't actually get the KY plates until we are living there, even though we have the address. The temporary plates will only be good for 30 days, and as mentioned above, are half the price of a full year.

Updating my IA to a HOORAY!...

As it turned out, we were able to get the KY plates yesterday. We were one day expired but it was okay. Because of having to apply for a title transfer from Indiana to Kentucky, which meant I had to get a 30 day temp plate there anyway, it was fine to go ahead. That was $2 compared to the $18.75 IN would have been.

Then, plates would have been $21, but we wanted it to say MAIDEN (since we are metal fans and all that) and it ended up being $25. Plain ol' plates in Indiana would have been $43. Still reasonable, since we have a 2004, but the savings was a real joy. ;D

It started when our bank (Barclays) closed down our local branch -- not even an ATM -- so now we have to take a bus to town. (Fortunately we qualify for OAP passes)

But then:

1.  Our local post office is due to close down -- another trip to the city city

2.  DH's GP is retiring this summer

3. The only bus to the city center that goes down our street is being taken off

Is this a conspiracy or what?

I would guess yes Even if you do qualify for a bus pass, it is all the extra time and hassle for everything, By the sound of your post, it is soon to be everything, too. That is, until the bus is no longer in service, and then it worse. You'd think those in charge would remember that people need bus service.

This one may just be me, but I feel like the sense of personal space means less here than in the US. I swear every time I am at an ATM and somebody is waiting behind me, they are RIGHT behind me, whereas in the US it's polite to give the person some space while they use the ATM.

Can I add another rant :-P

My SIL who did our wedding pics promised she'd send our wedding pics 8 days ago and we're still waiting. One guest sent pics of our wedding day and we were already feeling quite jolly after all the drinks the day brought us, so we look a little worse for wear haha I just want to see some of the nice pics already!

After I'd lived here for the first year and was back in the US I found myself standing right behind someone at a bus stop.  They would turn around and give me dirty looks.  And then I realized -- we don't queue up in the US!  We just stand around nonchalantly near whatever it is we're waiting for.  But you're right -- you need some space at a cash machine!

My IA: building work! >:(

There's a market behind us that sounds like it's being completely demolished. [smiley=smash.gif]

They've got jackhammers going all day and once in a while there's a loud thud and what sounds like metal being scooped up. The floor in our flat and the vines covering the wall between us and the market are constantly shaking when they're working. [smiley=bigcry.gif]

This has been going on for a few weeks now and last week, we got a notice that the new neighbours will be doing work, too (terraced flat).

Our street is usually pretty quiet but that's not been the case recently.

I work from home and I suspect DH thought I was exaggerating until he had a day off last week. ::)

If anything good is coming out of this, it's getting me out of the house on walks more, but those walks lead to TK Maxx (all roads lead to TK Maxx!) where I usually find fun stuff I shouldn't buy...  ;)

My SIL who normally takes 300-500 pics at weddings/events has sent me only 23 pics of mine :-( and I hate half of them.

Seriously? That's ridiculous! Can you have a post-wedding shoot with you and your husband (and with a different photographer)?
