Think we just dread the thought of potentially running into her a lot more often and having an awkward conversation

Hahahah the positive thing about approaching summer (or, what should be summertime), you can wear your sunglasses so if you see her in public, you can look away or pretend you didn't see her without making the awkward eye contact first as the shades will hide that hahah

And don't give her a key.

I was just reading on another forum about a woman who had returned from work and found that her mother-in-law had come in during the day and had put away the clothes. Left a note saying she couldn't stand seeing clothes in a basket not "put away proper".
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Well... I tried to mow our back garden, it REALLY needed doing. I've never used an electric mower before.

Long story short. I mowed over the cord. It's not even half done and looks ridiculous. All I can say is thank god for Amazon Prime, I'll have a new cord tomorrow and for about 15GBP.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Hope you managed to get it sorted! I was worried the weather might go bad again (it never seems to stay this nice for this long haha).

Thansk BriKH, I didn't actually. I had a terrible migraine on Monday I only managed to take the dogs for a walk before I got home and couldn't move. It was not a good day and yesterday was spent dealing with issues caused by our water being turned off without anyone telling us. YAY for them...

I did however try out our "strimmer" or what I would call a weed whacker, because our grass is MUCH to tall. We need an extension cord for me to keep going with that though, so I'm a bit stymied. :)

hahaha I just feel like I need to say, I had a go at the strimmer the other day because it looked very fun....and it was....and then i accidentally caught my pinky-toe because I was trying to hold it one-handed (beer was my priority in my other hand - was too sunny to let that one go!) and it got a bit heavy. I would definitely "strim" again for sure haha. HATE moving the lawn though. We had to get a petrol powered mower for our new garden as the extension lead won't reach all of it and I tried it out the other day but the grass was longer than usual and a bit damper than we though so it wasn't going easily and it kept stopping. I think I tried it for about 3 minutes with no luck before I gave up and left my husband to do it.

oh dear lyonaria - I think the lawn would be the least of your worries then for sure. Not worth the stress right now!

We live in a flat right now but can't wait to get a house with a nice big back yard (or back "garden" although there will more than likely be no gardening going on because all the plants I have ever owned die). I always tell my husband "I can't wait til we get a back garden for you to mow!" I'm using my allergies as an excuse anyways haha they have been awful! Nothing I have experienced before I moved to the UK!

They are fun! I did as much of the lawn as I could yesterday, but it wasn't very far as the cord is short... And with these 'weird British houses' there is no outdoor electrical socket! Makes no sense to me, especially when most outdoor devices are electronic!

I am not a lawn mowing fan... but the grass is ridiculously high as my husband has had a Crohn's flare up for the last month and I had no idea how to work an electric mower... I now know how not to use it as well as HOW to use it. Haha. Strimmer is more fun though. I should get it mowed though so it gets a chance to grow back.

No, it definitely wasn't yesterday, but the funny looking lawn is bugging me... So maybe today.

You'll be pleasantly surprised with outdoor plants here I think. I've killed every plant I've ever owned myself... mostly ivies. But I have kept orchids alive for 2 years, they never reflowered though... The outdoor plants here don't really need watering with all the rain. Big thing is just to plant things in the right places, depending on their sun needs. :)

hahah luckily we have an electrical outlet right by our sliding door in the garden room so we don't lose TOOOO much length to get it outside but it's still a pain! I hate that everything is electrical run! Sorry to hear about your husband but at least he knows you're holding down the fort  :) I would be like "....shall we see what it's like to live in the serengeti???"

Honestly, I never thought I'd have so much fun with the strimmer in my wildest dreams! I was just out there holding my beer in one hand, strimmer in the other going "BABE! YES! LOOK! THIS IS AMAZING!" hahah I then proceeded to pretend it was a lightsaber-esque object until it hit my toe.... I'm an adult, I promise.  ::)

Get a Yucca (?)! Those things NEVERRRRR die.... (trust me, I've been hoping my husband's would bite it for ages now...no such luck.)

I saw a job advertised just this weekend with a deadline of July 1st. I sent in my CV today and a few minutes later I get told they just offered the position to another candidate.

Already?!

Just feeling defeated since I have been looking for full time work for 655 days now.

Dumb question as I'm sure you've done this, but have you tried looking though reed or any of those other websites where you can upload your CV? I still get calls from recruiters for my old job which was over a year ago now just because I forgot o take my CV down. Obviously it might be a bit harder if you have a large gap in employment but I would either start looking on one of those sites or start temping just to fill in the gaps while looking for full-time work. I HATE when that happens though! At least PRETEND you haven't picked your candidate yet or take down the deadline!

Oh yea...Reed,  Indeed, Fish4, and a few others. I've made myself available for temp work too, which is meant to feature my cv to recruiters but doubt it. I seem to only get emails for telemarketing jobs.

The real job I wanted haha deadline of last Friday so here's hoping I hear from them instead!
