I've not seen her probably in about 10 years. We used to work together and became friends that way, but sort of drifted after we both left the place. She pops up on Facebook every few months or so to ask me how London is (despite my repeatedly telling her I don't live anywhere near London) and if I have ever seen celebrities out and about.  ::)
I think she has just been grating on my nerves since I feel like she isn't actually hearing anything I am saying. I would like to see her again but didn't expect this.

haha another annoyance in itself! I always feel like I'm talking to a wall when I tell people I'm not located in London. Granted I'm about an hour train ride away now (used to be about 30 minute direct ride) so they just associate being around that part of the country with being in London, but it must be even more irritating for you as you're definiteeelllyyy not in London! lol
My, how time flies....

I wish I had a pound everytime someone back home asked me if I have seen the Queen too! :P

I wish I had a pound everytime someone back home asked me if I have seen the Queen too! :P

I'd even settle for a pence for every time somebody asks me about one of the royals (two pence for when they don't even specify who they're specifically talking about! I'm just supposed to know!) and what's going on in their lives like I actually keep track of that.....

When my husband was over back in 2013 for our wedding, the prince had just been born and people were literally saying to my husband "How's the baby?!" and "congratulations on the baby!" He was SO confused...he was looking at me as he thought for a second that I was withholding some news from him...LOL

haha!  Oh dear!  Yet another reason I'm better off not mixing my UK and US lives.  But, then, I don't think I know people back in the US who would be so keenly interested in the royal family.  I don't think.  Y'know, I have no idea!

I think nobody ever *seeeeeeems* like they'd be that interested in it...until they think it's a way they can connect with you and sound worldly! lol

Is there any way that she can actually meet some celebrities?  I'm sure if she put in some time hanging around South Kensington and eating at the Ivy she could see somebody.  Even if it is just someone from TOWIE.

Seriously, maybe she should plan that, along with a visit to Madam Tussaud's

What celebrities hang out in Scotland, other than Albatross?  JK Rowling?

DH and I had an old flatmate who would always ask about the same things. He'd always ask about my brother (whom flatmate had never met), some random thing I mentioned once and the Rocky Mountains. :-\\\\ I'm from Washington and every.single.time I'd tell him that I don't live near the Rockies. I live near the Cascade Mountains. But then a few days later, he'd ask about the Rockies again. ::)

It's annoying enough if it's an occasional thing, but every single time?  I think someone might have to have a swim in a pool of razor blades and lemon juice.  :P

We do see celebs occasionally... but probably no one that you guys down south would know.  Newsreaders, politicians and footballers, mainly.

Pioneer Woman.
I really like most of her food, but the woman herself is just... odd.
Also, in one of this morning's episodes, she made some weird concoction of tomatoes and eggs, which looked vile to me.  Then she said 'tomatoes and eggs... it doesn't get any more delicious than this'.

I can instantly think of about 100 things that would be more delicious than that.

Yeah, that woman is...strange. With the fake "folksy down south" thing. Makes my fillings hurt, and the daughter won't stay in the room if she's on the tv.  ::)

It's not completely out of the cards in Manchester. The Manchester Evening News always reports on "celeb spottings" in the city but it's usually just actors from Coronation Street!

Uh, those people from that awful tv show about the woman who goes back in time to the Highlands (adapted from the bodice-ripper series of books) tend to be around filming in Glasgow from time to time. Not sure if that counts as stars in the true sense?

That is so annoying! I find the customer service here shocking sometimes. Not saying I didn't get bad customer service in America, but not nearly as bad as I come across it in the UK. Hope that couch actually gets sorted!

Wow, that brought back some memories! We never did get the couch sorted. After another attempted delivery (the details of which I've blocked out), we cancelled the L couch. We went to one of those chain couch places (DFS? Is that one?) and picked out a brown leather couch, one of those ones that looks like it's been used even though it's new.

At the time we did it because my wife has a habit of dropping uncapped pens on the couch, and we figured it wouldn't matter if she did this on a used-looking couch. Seven years later, with two kids under 5, a dog, and a cat, this has turned out to be one of the smartest decisions we've made as a couple.

The children can spill food on it, draw on it, jump on it, the dog can sleep on it in the dead of night when she thinks nobody will notice, and none of this makes it look beat up, because it already looked a little beat up on purpose.  :)

I hope your house guest's visit goes well!

I'll be near Glasgow in November and will be sure to look for the guy who plays Jamie Fraser then haha!

Not sure if my friend watches that. She certainly won't be aware of TOWIE or any of the soaps here (lucky her), so unless filming is happening somewhere then she may be out of luck in Manchester but I'll give her the tips for London! Needless to say, my friend is a little celeb obsessed.
