That would be my kid. He pretty much detests most foods, except for peanut butter sandwiches, which along with bananas, apples, and cheese, provide about 95% of his diet. He won't touch any pasta with a 10 foot pole.
I was like that as a wee thing: I lived on shredded wheat with milk and sugar (breakfast and supper) with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich with a glass of milk for lunch. Occasionally I would eat spinach (just to be perverse). The doctor told my mother not to worry about it (but of course she did). Anyway, I survived!

People who aren't consistent they say one thing then contradict themselves later on that's very annoying to me why don't they just hush in the first place so they cant be caught out in a bold face lie later on!!  ::)  :P

Fortunately Mac & Cheese is the one thing I can guarantee my 2.5 y/o will eat when she turns her nose up at everything else. But I agree, I can't wait till she's the age where she'll just eat whatever she's given.

He's 11, and normally pretty good about at least trying things, at least for an 11 year old.  But last night/today is just one of those days where he's being difficult for the sake of being difficult.  He says he "doesn't like cheese" yet he eats pizza, cheese on toast, toasties, etc.  ::)  He had plenty of other cheeseless options to choose from.  No.

I just threw my hands up in the air and dug the fish fingers out of the back of the freezer for him.  Since he and his father combined couldn't make a decision I'm just going to eat what I want to eat.  :)

People who think, 'oh yeah, she lives in England, she will know about how to get around London and what to see there.'  My cousin wants to impress her boss and move up the career ladder so she's asked if I would mind her boss contacting me for advice on the trip he planning with his teenage daughter.  So, all those in London, look for a thread on your fave eating places and places you choose to show off to your family!  I need HELP!!   [smiley=help.gif]

You know what my mom would have said to that. 'This is what we are having. If you don't like it go make yourself a sandwich.' And I usually did, or a bowl of cereal...nothing wrong with that.

Heck at 10, I was doing my own laundry because my mom got tired of nagging me to put my dirty clothes out in the garage in front of the washer so she could do it.  ;D

He also doesn't like mac and cheese, apparently.  What kid doesn't like mac and cheese?!

I don't like Mac and Cheese :P - I hated it as a kid... in fact, I don't think I've eaten any at all since I was a toddler! I love cheese, but macaroni cheese (as we called it at home) just tastes yucky to me... I think it's because it's all squidgy and goopy :P.

You know what my mom would have said to that. 'This is what we are having. If you don't like it go make yourself a sandwich.'

My mum wouldn't have even said the sandwich part - in our house it was more like: 'this is what we are having and you won't be getting any pudding until you've finished it' :P.

My mom never made me eat anything I didn't want to. She always had me try new things by taking at least 2 bites, but if I still didn't like it then I didn't have to eat it. Withholding dessert wouldn't have worked as I hated (and still do) sweet things.

I have a list of London restaurants already compiled -- just say the word, Persephone.  ;)

Yeah, there was always the problem with us claiming we didn't want pudding anyway, so it didn't matter if we ate the main course or not :P. I have a major sweet tooth, but my mum liked to eat 'healthy' puddings like fruit and yoghurt... which I just found boring, lol!

I still have memories of Sunday afternoons when I was a kid: we used to eat Sunday lunch (the traditional 'meat and two veg') in front of the TV while watching The Waltons... and then we had fromage frais pots for pudding :) (it was always fromage frais... every week  ::)!)

Me neither. It makes the weekend look more and more like work. Blech.
