My mother. She's doing my head in.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I got my letter in the mail telling me when my scan for my Gall Stones is an wouldn't you know it falls on my B/day bloody typical!!  >:(  ::)  Dh & I had plans to do a bit of shopping & go to our Favorite restaurant Frankie & Benny's ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]  but we cant do that now cause my apt is at 2:10pm an I cant eat anything 4 hours beforehand!! >:( [smiley=furious3.gif] normally it wouldn't be that bad but its my  [smiley=balloon.gif] 40th B/day [smiley=balloon.gif] an since I cant celebrate it with my whole family Dh was trying to make a little bit more special for me. [smiley=balloon.gif] [smiley=love.gif]  Dh has to work that day as well so we were going to make a morning & mid afternoon out it since he has to work the afternoon shift.

Aww, Sugga, I'm sorry to hear that! Is there any way it can be rescheduled?

I can fully relate to medical tests ruining something you're looking forward to: I had to get an upper-GI scan during my boyfriend's first visit to the US after having gone months without seeing him. I promised him that after the test (that lasted about 4 hours) I would take him out for a nice waffle breakfast/lunch. Let's just say I made it halfway through the waffles only to discover that waffles and barium don't mix very well. So I spent the rest of our lunch and subsequently the rest of the day in the bathroom.  :-X

I hope you're able to sort something out so that your birthday can still be extra special. [smiley=hug.gif]

People who don't respond to emails/messages.

Last week, I signed up for a Pilates class at a local community centre and made an appointment to see the instructor for an initial private consultation on Tuesday.

I realised after I'd hung up that I hadn't asked how much it cost, so I called the next day and left a message on his mobile (the number that I used to make the initial appointment) asking for the cost.

He never called back, so the next day (over 24 hours later), I called his landline number for him that was on the community centre website. It turned out to be the main number of the community centre, and the guy I spoke to said he was teaching a class and that I should call his mobile number. (On the community centre website it says to contact the instructors directly for information about classes.)

The next day I sent him an email saying that I need to know how much money to bring and he still hasn't responded.

I can see if he is busy during the week but he has had several weekdays plus all Saturday to get in touch with me.

DH said that if he were me he wouldn't go because he wouldn't want to deal with someone that inconsiderate, and that I should find another class to go to, but I already made an appointment to see him Tuesday evening and I want to go to the class. I suppose I will just go there, see if he shows up, and if not, go home.

Me too!!  Although I know that there are a few things open in York, but it's all stuff I've already done before and expensive!  Come on first paycheque from the new job!

I'm feeling really discouraged today. I heard good news from an acquaintance and was completely upset by it, which is not like me...all I keep thinking is that I'm never going to be able to go home, I keep clicking my ruby slippers together but nothing happens  :\\\'(

Sore stomach.  :(  To add to that, I went to Tesco to get some Gaviscon.  I bought a bunch of things, got home, and realized that Gaviscon was the only thing I managed to forget.  :-\\\\

Peppermint tea will just have to do.

-2F and the bloody bus was about 15 minutes late  >:(
I was dressed appropriately but my toes were hurting.
Over my normal undies I wore:
thermal vest (short sleeved version)
cotton turtleneck
fleece jacket and bottoms
cotton knee socks
heavy wool (Ragg) socks
heavy boots with fleecy lining (somewhat worn) and furry cuffs
leg warmers
down full length "commuter" coat with hood (Lands End)
fleece balaclava
heavy fleece scarf with hood
down mittens (Eddie Bauer)

Guess the boots need replacing  :(

Oh, BostonDiner, I hate cold feet! That's no fun.

My IA: nauseated so not hungry. Sigh. Just drinking large mugs of peppermint tea in an effort to feel better.

Hope the tea does the trick.

It's not necessarily the boots (although it's a good excuse if you want to buy new ones!). I've had well-insulated boots in the past but the never properly do the trick. Try putting on one pair of socks, then a plastic bag on each foot, (sandwich size usually works for me) followed by another pair of socks to keep the plastic in place. The bags retain the heat and ensure your feet stay dry. :)

You also suggested to me wrapped each foot up with saran wrap/ cling film then another pair of socks to keep feet warm & dry.   ;)  ;D

BD, it's cold here, too. Not that cold, but cold enough. And now threats of more snow and ice... or even worse IMO, rain. I hate rain when it's cold out. I'd rather have the snow.

Thank you for this as I am going to do this tomorrow for my son who has an outdoor school trip tomorrow!:D

Thanks, Elle. Plastic bags are certainly cheaper than new boots!  ;) I had hoped the 2 pair of socks would do the job -- the bags wouldn't take up any extra room.

My 2nd IA of the day:

I'm hearing that the powers that be are unhappy with my work output still.  >:(
