I kept my feet up all night and went to bed early. Starting the day with light swelling but I have to go to work at 2 until 8 tonight.  I will have the next 3 days off and I have plans to do absolutely nothing. (Which pisses me off because I want to be doing stuff and going places.)

I'm looking forward to getting back to myself again. I'm lucky in that regard,  I just have to hold on a little bit longer and I will be fixed. It's just getting to me emotionally as I've been dealing with side effects of the anaemia for awhile now but not realizing that's what was causing it. (Like my internal lack of temperature control. I freeze even in the summer. Winter is horrid for me.)

Technically yes but financially,  no. Plus it could be weeks or months of waiting. Or it could come tomorrow.  I went back to look in my diary,  I've already been waiting for my NHS referral letter for 5 weeks.

I've got an IA today...

We started bathroom renovation. When I say we, I mean it's mostly my lovely husband (it's mostly been laying pipes so I'm not reallllllly the most helpful here but wlll help out more with fitting fixtures and tiling, etc.). My husband rocks. He's very handy and it's appreciated...Buuuuuuut he likes to be precise with things and we made a Screwfix run yesterday just before they closed to get the last bit of bits and bobs we needed. Our water has been off since Friday and our (his) goal was to get it back on by the end of the day on Sunday. He did such a good job as it was properly spaghetti junction with the pipework/under the floor stuff, we honestly have no clue why they did things the way they did but we don't really question it anymore as this sits across the board.

we were 4 tinnnnnny copper elbows short. I asked him to buy DOUBLE what he needed/extra of everything he would need and we'd return what we didn't need (or use it on the one we're putting in the loft). His idea of "extra" is like 2. If a bag has 4 elbows in it and he only needs 2, he considers the extra 2 good enough while my idea would be to get an additional bag to be safe. He realised he forgot about the elbows needed for the radiator at about 6pm last night..... ::)

I can feel I'm starting to get ill and I am tired of living in a construction zone. I'm sooo grateful he's so handy and I know he's going as fast as he can while also making sure he's leaving zero margin for error. He's truly meticulous. Not having heating isn't as horrible as what you guys who lost heat in the far colder temperatures as it's quite mild out, I just get cold quite easily and the house is easily more could than the outside somehow?! We've had to shower over at my MIL's house (which we are lucky to have access to and there's been an offer on it so it's okay to now shower over there without fear people will turn up for a viewing lol) but it's just tiring. I definitely don't feel ungrateful or unfortunate, I'm just tired and grumpy at the moment. I'm sure I'll come home and the piping will all be done and it'll be happy days :)

Girl, I hear you.  My husband is the same.  Really great work but SOOOOOO slow as he thinks everything through.

When we moved into our house and got our blinds and curtains, my girlfriend and I were having so much fun with it.  I'd text when he started and give status updates.  He measured and such so much that it took TWO HOURS to hang the curtain rod.  TWO HOURS!  But it is perfect and no extra holes were drilled and an elephant could hang from it and not pull it from the wall.

It took SEVEN weekends to tile our backsplash.  SEVEN WEEKENDS.

You'll be soo happy when it's done!  Have you picked tiles yet?

That is my husband, to a T. LOL Like he thinks he's going faster than he is as well and definitely miscalculates how long something will take (because, again, he wants to make sure everything is flawless and fitting like a glove). He also misjudges how loud something is so I'm constantly telling him, as it moves into the evening, that he needs to be mindful of the older people living next door. He's like "I'M NOT BEING AS LOUD AS YOU THINK!" ....meanwhile I take the dog out for a walk and I can hear it outside, across the road in the field....lol My husband was literally working through the pipework and how it would go and talking TO the pipes last night (I snapchatted my friend the video because I was laughing telling him it was like watching A Beautiful Mind in real time).

hahahahaha I can totally see this happening to me!! I was sending my friend updates yesterday

Yeahhhhhh, in my opinion a BACKSPLASH just shouldn't take that long! But I guarantee my husband could definitely make that happen as well haha.

Yeah I know I will be SO pleased when it's done and we compare the before/after photos. We picked out tiles VERY last minute. Another IA, I guess, is that we ordered this panelling for £500-ish. Was going to make everything really simple/easy. Reviews were good and they praised themselves for having tiles "so realistically tile looking that guests won't believe it's not". Yeah. Got a call from Rik on Friday to essentially say "panelling looks sh*t." and we both said "screw it, let's just get tile." Learning from our last bathroom renovation, we were trying to avoid dark and matted tile and we wanted BIG ones to make it easier. Do you know how hard that seems to be to find?! Ended up finally finding some that would work at B&Q on Friday night at like 7:30 (got in and paid just before the place shut I think hah). I now have to WFH tomorrow so they can collect the panelling. Will be a lot more arduous doing tiles but will look SO much nicer in the end. Not decided yet if we're doing full-wall or up to the windowsill with the shower enclosure being done completely.

This is what it was looking like prior to leaving this morning (fixtures out of packaging to sort pipes out...not even close to installing yet lol)

Did think Rik was going to burn the house down with his blowtorch at one point...

Oooo, it's all so exciting though.  Just a shame you have to live with it.  LOL!

That's a famous line in our house, "It'll take an hour max."  Three hours later....  still not done.

I'm surprised the front path last year didn't do us in for good!  He was on freaking paternity leave and laying a path.  I was NOT impressed.

haha genuinely Rik will say "I'm just going to fix this thing on the car". I'll be making dinner and say "okay how long will it take so I know when to start?" and he'll say "30 mins. It won't take long at all..." ....an hour later he still won't be done but gets to a "stopping point" that he'll resume after the fact.

Oh no. I would not be impressed either if he was doing that on paternity leave.......lol

Yeah definitely not pleased to be living in it, but happy that the horrendous tile and old fixtures are gone!

Was it good news when you got home?

My husband isn't very handy. But if I ever need a computer program or help on a sound design issue I know who to go to. :)

Huzzah! Pipes have been sorted! Radiator is on! Can’t turn the heat on until tomorrow because “there’s air in the system and we don’t want a pressure spike to blow a hole in the pipes” or something (I stopped listening as I was too excited to have running water again!)

I diiiiid walk into a biiiit of a rainfall in the kitchen.

You can also see the edge of the ugly yellow cabinets
