I sold a playmobil plane set on Ebay and even though I marked it UK only, the winning bidder was from Finland. I used Pass my Parcel to deliver it and insured it. PMP seems to be a good idea, you do all the paperwork over the internet, then print labels and then take it to a nearby off license. Job done and it worked fine for a few parcels.
About a month after posting it, the buyer said he never got it, so i looked at the site and it turned out they wouldn't deliver without the recipients phone number! ?? So I got that, but then there was 5 months of back and forth where they lost the parcel, wanted reciepts to prove how expensive the item is and generally wasted as much time as possible. Finally, I got this:
Hello,
Your item has been returned to us due to insufficient address details, your parcel was unable to be delivered.
Please choose one of the following available options:
Collect item in person from our office in Southampton
Return item to a sender (£11.75)
Dispose of the item (£6 admin fee)
Resend to planned a recipient (£11.75)
Please be aware there will be a £11.75 charge for return.
I await your reply,
Kind regards,
Pass My Parcel
This was after they had told me they lost it! Can you believe they wanted to charge me £6 to "dispose" of it? Needless to say, I opened an industrial sized can of American Whoop ass on them and at least they supposedly are returning the parcel using another company. How lame is that? I've already told them they still owe me the original amount and I'm going to ask my bank for a chargeback.
