Can you use this paid time to take a short UK-based online certification of some sort?
I'm going to do some on pluralsight. :)

Just trying to make the best of a crap situation is all you can do :)

And it will look good on your CV and in interviews to say "I had x-happen unfortunately but I tried to make the best of it by completing x,y,z training courses!" will show you're ambitious and taking steps to learn off your own back.

hahaha Normally I would say I'm severely under-qualified for that, but I think it all comes down to who you ask.

I'd vote for you over Ms. May!  She's been my nemesis since New RulesTM and Hostile EnvironmentTM.  Remember kids: all the crap (and extortionate fees) we've endured were her doing!
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Oh, I'm fully aware of that!! This popped up on the Guardian yesterday... How the hostile environment crept into UK schools, hospitals and homes

Mrrrrr. I emailed the general HR line this morning asking about next steps for getting back to work because I wasn't quite comfortable with waiting without instructions, and they responded with a pants on fire lie. If I have to wait til the out of office lady is back that's fine, don't lie to me though.

What did they say?
That they'd called the company who did the assessment today and they needed a few more days to complete the report. It was sent Tuesday.

You should've hit them with the "oh that's so strange. Before she went out of office, she said she sent them across to you!"So bizarre!"

I kept my reply succinct... it was sent on x date, can you confirm you've received it? I'm just angry, there was no reason to make things up. My future hangs in the balance and they clearly don't care at all.

Maybe they feel like they're buying time to resolve things but lying is NOT the way to do that.

Just found out that the skype picture I'm using for work was accidentally publicly posted and I got 16 DOWNVOTES ON IT! I mean what a total gut punch! I had tried to make the post private but instead it made it public and 2 people liked it while 16 people downvoted it! I am totally fine with myself (not going to lose sleep over it), but what a kick in the teeth when you weren't expecting it! LOL

What?!  I don't even understand the downvotes!  I mean, I don't know the picture, but I haven't seen a photo of you yet that deserves a downvote.
