Lol cheers guys - didn't mean to post it as a way to get compliments by any means. I was just like "WHAT?! WHY EVEN?!" It's just a normal photo of just my shoulders/head that I took to use for work profile and I marked it as private so when I saw people commenting on it and all the downvotes I was like OOF! I know I;m not a model but jeeeeezus I wasn't expecting this to be public, let alone heavily downvoted by strangers!  Again, I'm cool with it. I'm happy with myself. It was more just a shock that (firstly) it was out there and (secondly) it was really THAT bad to people!
My, how time flies....

Seriously, I’m with Rick.  What could possibly motivate someone to Downvote a picture of someone else?  Pure jerkiness and jealousy.

And seriously, what makes total strangers think that their opinion of your photo means a damn to you or anyone else? What a strange culture....

Lol I was questioning why as well? I was thinking "it's not like I posted it somewhere and there was something for people to disagree with! It was legitimately just a photo with NOTHING else accompanying it! I'm not photogenic at the best of times, so I surely didn't need to ask the audience if the picture was a decent one! I don't even know how people saw it!!

It was posted on IMGUR and my husband tried to make me feel better by saying that it was probably done by the people on the lookout for porn and my non-scantily clad "work" photo just wasn't cutting it for them so they downvoted to get the algorithm to show them photos NOT like mine. I appreciated his attempt (and probably outright lie) to make me feel better. We then went and ate Japanese food so I was totally all better

And seriously, what makes total strangers think that their opinion of your photo means a damn to you or anyone else? What a strange culture....

Honestly it was just bizarre to me!

That actually makes a lot of sense.  Algorithms can be trained.  I think your husband found the why of it, rather than just not voting at all.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

It makes enough sense that he could tell me that's what happened and it's plausible so I couldn't argue it. I still doubt that's the situation but I didn't spend too much time worrying about it that I just let it go and deleted the photo and it appears to still be showing on skype so that's good. I was just like HOW RUDE?! haha

I shared my weight loss before and after picture on Reddit once and the comments about my vagina armpit... yikes!

Leave it to internet douche bags and no one would have any self confidence.

I expect some level of douchery from Reddit ( I genuinely never post pictures on there of myself/husband etc., just of my dog on occasion because I just don't even want to deal with it lol) but I just had no clue that people would even care enough on IMGUR to look at a photo literally not posted anywhere else online but there lol I didn't think people even browsed photos casually on there if not linked!  Totally agree though. People should completely disregard comments made online as people just feel like they can be horrible human beings to other people because of the anonymity they have. They may not even mean what they say, they are just saying it because it's the one bit of control they can have to make somebody else feel shitty.

People are just so rude. They should be telling you they are proud of your progress etc. and NOT picking out flaws. Ridiculous.

These are people you don't know, therefore you don't need to care about what they think about you.   ;D

Even when you do know them, opinions like that still don't matter. That's just mean!

Exactly.

The fact that they've said anything like that points to something akin to a mental illness on their part (to think of them in a more kindly way than the alternative).

I'd vote for you over Ms. May!  She's been my nemesis since New RulesTM and Hostile EnvironmentTM.  Remember kids: all the crap (and extortionate fees) we've endured were her doing!

The Hostile Environment is for all the people who thought they don't have to follow the immigration rules. When you look at the old laws, in some cases they favoured these people over  the honest people!

Immigration fees wasn't May. Years ago parliament decided that those who use a service must pay for it, instead of everyone else having to pay for them. Bit by bit, services are beingmade self funding. Immigration still isn't at the point where it is self funding.
