Don’t give up!! We are all here for you!

My IA for the day is that I was traveling to Skye for work and came upon a brutal traffic accident about 30 minutes after it hap. First two ambulances had just arrived from Portree. People from stopped vehicles were actually getting out and videoing the scene on their freaking phones! What is wrong with these people?! There were fatalities and people seriously injured and they think it’s entertainment?!

That really f**ks me off....There are far too many instances in society today where people film first and attempt to help second. In this instance, a civilian won't be much help, but it's common sense that it's inappropriate to film...

I couldn't find any info on it besides the road closure notice due to serious accident. :( honestly made me really uneasy because that is a 2 lane 50mph highway with no shoulder and a hard curb, why would a cyclist be on it?

it's awful that people document that kind of thing. The only time footage is helpful is when it captures the events leading to the accident via a dash cam!

It's shocking the amount of times I've seen people cycling on a dual-carriageway.... It's mental to me... Agree that dashcam footage is useful and that's an exception.

There doesn't seem to be any paper or anything that covers "police logs" like I used to read when I was back in the US in my local paper where you might hear about a particular accident or incident (always found it interesting to read that section). Does anybody else have any type of "Police Logs" website or section of newspaper or something you read or do they just not do them here? Or would it be called something else?? Or is it somewhere obvious and I'm just missing it?  I've seen minor sections like this on a website for Reading/Thames Valley Police but it barely had anything in it.

My, how time flies....

I think the Salisbury Journal Online has that section... I swear I remember my husband coming across a name he knew who got into some trouble with the police.  BBC won't have it, but check your local paper's website.

My IA:  I'm sitting here in bed, enjoying another lazy morning while catching up with UKYankee on my phone when the smoke detector started chirping to let me know it needs a new battery.  That is not a relaxing and peaceful sound!  Now I'm going to have to actually start my day and go be productive, and I've added the task of reminding myself what type of batteries it takes and buying some when I go do the grocery shop later.  I just want to be lazy!  Every day, that's all I ever want.  :P

Yeah, I kinda hate cell phones. Because of their owners, often.  >:(

I was on a shuttle bus to work one morning a couple of years ago. The bus had maybe 15 students (university age), me, and the driver. We saw a woman start to run from the other side of the street to catch the bus, in front of us, and she ran right in front of a car that was traveling in the opposite direction - the poor driver had no time to react. The impact threw her over the hood and she landed on her head in a crumpled heap. The driver stopped, I said someone needs to dial 911, and the driver and I got out to help her.

Turned out that several of those bastards on the bus took video and some took selfies, and posted them! And nobody on the bus called 911, except the driver, from what the police told me later. And they also got a call from someone in a passing car.

So, yeah, call me a luddite, but I'd rather cell phones didn't do anything but make calls and text messages.

That's horrible!  I've always heard that in those kind of situations, you pick a particular person, ask their name and then tell THEM SPECIFICALLY to call 999.

The other day I was on the M25 and it was backed up for miles, with a 45 minute delay.  At the end of it, there was an accident on the other side of the motorway.  Absolutely no reason to stop or slow down, as soon as the cars passed it they went 70 MPH again.  I was pretty angry after sitting in an hour long traffic jam just because people wanted to gawk at the fire engines.

Prednisone. Ick. Needed, but I still hate it. Was hoping for a breathing treatment but I guess you have to go to the hospital for those, and without audible wheezing and my o2 levels back at low normal he wasn't gonna send me there tonight. I'm literally terrified to try going back to work, so I'm out sick for a little bit regardless of what happens.

*sigh*

I need them so rarely it's not really worth it. I'll be back to normal soon. I just don't like this one bit. :(

Pioneer Woman.  I don't know why I do this to myself.  >:(

Today, she said of bruschetta : this is the stuff dreams are made of.   ???

She also said of a very plain pancetta and leek pasta dish, 'dinner doesn't get any better than this'.  Really?  ???

Wish she would just cook without talking.

Painsomnia. My pain management appointment was postponed because the consultant was wearing really strong cologne, and atm the combo of prednisone for the asthma attack and pain is making staying asleep almost impossible. :(

That's rough, Margo. I had to take prednisone at a high dose for over a year at one point, and between that and the actual pain I got only a few hours of poor-quality sleep a night. It will wear you down and that makes the pain perception worse. Can you possibly take naps during the daytime to try to compensate?

Will have to check if there's a more local paper than the one I was already checking that has a very very crap dedicated space for that kind of stuff.

In fairness...I do like a good bruschetta! haha  ::)

That's what I'm doing today. Thankfully this is the last day of prednisone but it didn't have the desired outcome of getting my asthma back to a baseline, so I don't know if I'll need a longer course :(
