You know, everyone recommends stocking up on jeans before you leave anyway, so you will still be that 6-8 if you do that!  :)

Strange for someone living in Louisiana, but I have many more trousers than shorts. I LOVE winter clothes!!

Yes, bring your favorite jeans and a couple extras with you! Clothes are more expensive here and different cuts too. I'm a 6-8 in the US, and a 10-12 in most things here. (12 if the hips are snug)

I think it's just a bit discouraging since I lost all that weight and I'll be in the same "number" size I was in here  [smiley=bigcry.gif]

I mean, there are a lot of things you may end up upset over... I wouldn't recommend losing sleep over different sizing since the same applies in the US depending on designer! Be happy with who you are not the number on a label. :)

You will just need to wait until your brain re-calibrates, it won't take long!  ;D

You're definitely not  defined by any number on a pair of jeans or on the scale.
I've spent the last year overcoming disordered and binge eating (and trust me, I'm nowhere close to a size 6 or 8 or whatever - that would fit on my arm probably).   You're defined by the awesomeness that is you. Cut the tags out. Embrace you! You're beautiful!!!!
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

You're stuck with me!

Awe you guys I wasn't expecting all the kind words.

I am both excited and frightened by the future changes. Different sizes on my clothes is definitely the smallest of my worries!!!! You guys are the best :)

I live in Central Scotland. In my little town alone, I have 9 charity shops within walking distance of my flat. 9!! And they are all brilliant.

I wouldn't worry too much about finding clothes that fit and are affordable. Primark will become your new best friend!

Definitely recommend this - I'm British and I now buy my jeans in the US, because I can never find well-fitting jeans at a decent price here in the UK.

It seems that pretty much all the jeans I can find in the UK these days are skinny jeans - even the ones that claim they are bootcut are still really skinny... and I need bootcut. However, when I was in the US last year, I found some 'proper' bootcut jeans in Target which fit really well and only cost $30 , so I bought 2 pairs (in comparison, I used to pay £40-50 a pair for my jeans in the UK). Then when a US friend was coming over to the UK in May, I asked her to bring another pair over, and my mum is going to the US next month, and I'm going to get her to bring some more back :).

The number I wear over here bothers me...  And 4 years on it still rankles me a bit when I have to get that size. 🙄
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Picked up my new car last night, and 24 hours later, I am realising that I prefer my old car.  :\\\'(

Not sure.  It just doesn't 'feel' right.  It's the same make/model, just 2 years newer... i'm probably being ridiculous.

Naw, I hear ya. Ya get the seat broken in just right for your backside. You get accustomed to the squeeks and weird noises. And the scent. And then it's all different!

On top of everything else, now I have to find an emergency dentist tomorrow :( ugh, and ow. Novacaine doesn't work on me so I have an extreme fear of them.
