Glad that you've got nearly all that miserable experience behind you. What ended up happening in the end, I don't think I saw you mention it?

It's up on FB (i think you can see). It's not entirely over yet, but I can't handle much more from it. :(

Will go look. It's been a busy last few weeks so I've not read too much on FB and might've missed it!

Just from today so not far back. I've never felt so bullied in my life.

Good on you Kiss of Death, that had ridiculous written all over it.

I hate to be sexist, but I honestly don't think people do that kind of stuff to men.

Just seen it now. Usually small businesses are MORE likely to work with you not less. They just sound horrible and like they are using their "small" status to try to justify why they can't meet relatively easy requests. I can understand if they don't *want* that role to be flexible in terms of location, but it sounds like a bold faced lie to say that it physically cannot be done from another location. Even if it was a "mistake" that the home working policy was in the handbook, it was still in there so they can't be all that surprised that you're expecting them to follow the guidelines they've even accidentally set out.

At least it's almost over and done with! Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

Thanks. Can't say if they do or don't believe all the people in my office in my team are women so it's only women we have to pick from hah

KOD, I'm so glad you passed your test and I'm really glad you got the story straight.

Margo, I'm sorry you're still being bullied and dealing with work stuff.

KFDancer, you're right, I would have loved that party!  Glad it all worked out in the end!

That was a brilliant reply KFdancer.

XoD - there is no need for you to feel guilty about ANYTHING.  And be proud of yourself that you got it straightened out.  One less thing to worry about.

I'm not usually bad at asserting myself or piping up but I am a fairly laid back and easygoing person so there aren't too many situations where I have to say no.....but this time I was like HELLS NO! .....but the problem is that my line manager is so nice and usually pretty supportive of me and what I want to do/my career progression (to the point that sometimes she takes advantage because she knows I'll be good at what she assigns me to do and won't complain). That makes it harder to not feel bad. If she weren't so nice, I wouldn't mind going into full b*tch-mode.

Your boss is going to know that if you said you can't, then you can't.
This might be a good thing because it has highlighted to the powers that be that you are up to your eyeballs.

Grrr. There's a guy casing houses in our neighborhood. :( Reported to 111 but it makes me so uncomfortable. It happened at my old house in the states too, but I trusted the doors so much more there!

I just wish I didn't HAVE to be the bad guy saying "no" just once. I wish other people would make an attempt so I didn't even have to be put in that position.

Or, maybe if nobody agrees to do all of this uncompensated extra work, the business will realize they are understaffed and taking advantage of their more conscientious workers, and they will hire someone (or promote someone and give a raise) to address this labour gap.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

No. no...why would they do that WHEN THEY CAN MAKE PEOPLE REDUNDANT?! (I'm not even joking, 2 people in my specific project's team were made redundant this passed month)

I am so overloaded at the moment it's not even funny and it's just making me extra crabby. Got an email today from customer that I had to stop and just not respond to because I knew I wouldn't be able to be polite enough to her shocked comment about me needing evidence she verbalised written down (I've been asking her for 2 weeks and she's been dodging it by saying she'll give it to me later) and asking if it's our job or theirs to manage our supplier. I hit the roof.

I actually started applying for roles the other day because I was so done and I've been getting acid reflux from all the stress (and physical pain).

If anybody is hiring project coordinators/specialists/managers, let me know! Lol
