Woke up with a horrible neck crick that still hasn't gone away. :( I can barely move my head, and it hurts no matter what I do.

Me too!  Well, actually, mine woke me up in the middle of the night so I had a terrible second half of the night's sleep as well.  Took me ages to fall back asleep.  :(

Yuck! I went to bed super early last night, too, and really wanted to wake up feeling refreshed.

Hope yours gets better soon! I've regained a little bit of motion today with heat/ibuprofen, but it's still pretty painful. :(

Jake's mum and stepmum asked us to do Amazon wish lists so that they could order our gifts and get them delivered directly, which we did. We asked them to address our presents to the other person, i.e J's presents should be addressed to me so that when they arrived we could open them, wrap them and put them under the tree.

His Mum decided that doing that would be "too confusing" and therefore have addressed our presents to us.  Which is blooming annoying as we both order stuff from Amazon including presents for each other all the time and both had several orders "in the pipeline", I've already opened a box from Paperchase full of gifts for me thinking it was my christmas ornaments and today two Amazon boxes have arrived, one has my name on it and one has J's, is mine my christmas lights or is it a present?! His is probably a present, which means I should open and wrap it, but potentially it's a gift for me so I can't open it. I want to put the christmas lights on the blooming tree! His Stepmum's stuff is due to start arriving any minute and I've no idea what she did or who she addressed stuff to. I'm half tempted to put all the amazon boxes under the tree and just let it be a freeforall on xmas day!

SO confusing!!!!

This is why when I send to my parents and grandfather, I get them wrapped by Amazon.  It's just easy and then no one has to worry about anything.  I don't think my parents could be trusted to open and wrap for each other.  It stinks that you've already openned presents.  :(

Sigh. The work laptop has lost its hard-drive. IT's answer to everything is to reformat, so they've been doing that all last week, but I think the drive is probably still dodgy.  I have a conference this weekend that I need to present at and I'm trying to figure out how to back everything up so that I can still make it through that no matter what.
I wish I had the cash for a new Thinkpad.

Sorry to hear of your quandry CB...but personally I'd love to have that problem at the moment, as my IA is the same as yesterday: We've still not had any post in nearly 10 days now and it looks like the posties are still refusing to deliver as well...as it seems it's been too 'dangerous'for our postman to park his van in front of our building door like he always does and take the indoor lift to the 6th floor and slip it through our letter slot ...hmm, yeah right.

Again. If anything, it's worse. Woke up at 5am almost in tears because my neck hurt so much, and that was just lying there not moving. :( Took a muscle relaxant that appears to have no effect on my muscles, but does make me pass out, so at least I got a few more hours sleep.

Do I remember correctly that you said you live across the street from the sorting office? Can you not just go over yourself a pick up your post? I know it's less convenient than having it delivered, but surely it'd be better than no post at all?

My IA is that I still feel like total, utter sh*te. Day 4 of my bedbound fever fun, only today I was forced to go to hospital for an existing appointment (my husband drove me in since walking to the bus stop was a bit iffy) so I got looked over by the haem doctor on duty, who reckons it's just a really bad cold or flu. But they swabbed me just to make sure, so I'll find out if anything grows on the cultures in a few days. Until then, more BORING AWFUL DUVET. I am really, really sick of this. Last night I had trouble sleeping for stressing about all the things that need doing and all the timelines I'm up against, arrrrghhghgh. I really can't afford to lose four whole days right now. :(

We live across from our local post office but the sorting office is downtown in City Centre 3 miles away...Some neighbours have tried to go there and pick up their post and they're being turned away saying that they can't find individuals items as there is too much to look through. We have packages to send out before the 10th to make sure they get through to the US in time so we're heading down there on Wednesday to post them but I'm certian they'll tell us the same thing.

So, yeah no post for us.

ETA it wouldn't be such an IA other than we're waiting for a very important letter from the US Embassy regarding DH's visa or I really wouldn't be bothered with it, Christmas & cards are nice but that letter is life changing  :-\\\\

It is so windy I almost got knocked down by it while walking to work!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I am so, so, so COLD.

This old, drafty house is gorgeous, but there's something to be said for good windows and insulation (of which there is neither)

I lived in the U.S. Midwest for 3/4ths of my life, survived some pretty blustery winters, but I have never been SO cold in all my life as I have been these past couple of weeks INSIDE this house.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Tell me about it.  I'm almost beginning to remember life in Iowa fondly, but I think I mostly just remember vented heat fondly.  What I wouldn't give for a heating vent to sit on right now!!

I found the only thing that saved me was a down duvet and a woolly hat.
