Hee hee.  Ask your husband if he’s heard of it.

I live in the same borough as XoD and we have the Broadmoor sirens every Monday morning at 10am for two minutes.  :D

He definitely knew immediately!

But we don't actually hear it! That's the thing! I hear it more from my office in Bracknell than I do from my own house literally across the field. It all depends on which siren they are using as well (as there are multiple based in different locations - not just Crowthorne).

How weird that can’t hear one at your house.  Yeah, I think there are three around that still work?  I’ve heard they are not putting money into them and when they break, they will be out of service.  With social media, the sirens just aren’t necessary anymore.  I can only hear it if the wind is blowing right.  And actually haven’t heard it since we got our new windows.

Yeah I'm not sure if they'll actually follow through with not fixing them as everybody KICKED OFF properly when they first mentioned they were looking at decommissioning the sirens altogether even when not broken and only using social media as people were questioning how older people would know etc.

I only actually hear it when I'm walking out in the field with the dog. When I'm in the house I genuinely don't hear it (good double glazing?). There's only been one or two occasions in the last 2 years that I've actually heard the siren from inside the house when I was home on a Monday but I have heard it from Bracknell by the tip a few times when the wind blows the right way. There has actually been multiple discussions on the Crowthorne page around who could/couldn't hear the siren and it was so mixed. Some people right by Broadmoor heard nothing and people near Finchhampstead could hear it. Can't explain it and it's bizarre, but that's why I don't think the siren should put people off (but obviously I'm biased LOL and I don't think about it too much as I'm often in work on a Monday). Rik works from home most Mondays though and I don't think he notices it much but I'm not sure.

Oooo, interesting....  there are 13 sirens but supposedly 12 are being decommissioned this year.

My IA:

Raking wet leaves in the drizzle, only for it to start pelting down and getting DRENCHED.

I loathe raking....

If the leaves are on the grass, it can be easier just to run the mower over the area.  :)

We have had no-shows as well but thankfully less common. Always appreciate being told vs just a no-show for sure.

That is mental! Firstly, an estate agent should NEVER be giving you a ration of sh*t. You're the client! That seems crazy to me. Also, one pizza box is definitely not a mess - especially considering you only have a half hour notice.

He didn't remain our agent.  ;)

Initially, for our open house, he insisted we "get rid of the cats" and make it appear as if there were no pets living in the house. He also suggested I remove my built-in hanging bookshelves, which were basically floor to ceiling in the living room and full of books, as they were clutter. Collectable books.
Yep. We fired him after the pizza box thing.

I normally do but it was way too wet to do that.  Not to mention WAAAAAAAY too many leaves. We just spent a small fortune having the lawn scarified and over seeded so trying to follow the care instructions to a t.  Our grass looks fake it looks so good after the treatments.  We want to keep it that way.

We had a blower vacuum but it blew last year.  My husband is in charge of picking a new one....

He is also in charge of selecting a vent hood for the stove.  We’ve officially hit three years with no vent in the kitchen....  ::)
