I'm sorry Margo, I hope you can get back on solids soon. That should help a little at least.  :)

We are spending Christmas with my husband's cousin this year, which we are excited about (as the inlaws don't want to do Christmas together).

I asked her yesterday if she's thought about food and if she wanted us to bring anything.  She said, "The turkey."

Serious as a heart attack.  Cheeky little devil.  We are bringing the bloody turkey!!!!   :o

Agree with KoD! Not petty, turkeys are usually the host responsibility unless otherwise volunteered. Guests bring wine and side dishes. That was really cheeky to request without a bit more explanation (like, they've never cooked a turkey and know you're more comfortable with it, or can't afford it but still want to host the family).

The request was to bring the turkey cooked due to oven space.  I get it.  But still.  THE TURKEY!??!?!

Don't get me wrong - I am 100% happy to contribute towards costs.  Turkeys are insanely expensive here!  But now I'm making a gigantic turkey for everyone and their friend (looks like lots of people are going, not just family - again no issues as no one should be alone at Christmas).  We're the only one with small kids.   ::)

I think the fact that it's not even just for family and will be a bunch of people you don't know is even more cheeky to be honest.... Did she offer to chip in for the Turkey? I could understand them not having the space in their oven, but I would think they might at least volunteer to pay towards the turkey that will be feeding a majority of people they know.

Agree with the "more the merrier" mentality though as you're right that nobody should be alone on the holidays if they don't want to be.

We wouldn't take any money.  It's more that I need to b*tch in a safe space that we are bringing the mother f-ing turkey.

I was going to suggest I bring corn pudding (corn casserole in some parts) and a Cheesecake Factory cheesecake (which I'm totally getting for the Thanksgiving meetup).

It's not as strange as you think: when there is a very large group of people somebody will usually pay for the turkey. I offered the other year, but somebody beat me to it. :(  The turkey is the easiest to cook.

The people in our group who were the host last year, are an older couple and they refused to accept anything. That meant we then had an arguement over who would pay for the group dinner at a restaurant on Christmas eve as we all wanted to pay. Everyone was trying to give their card to the waitress without anybody else seeing!

Blurgh. My poured coffee into my normal flask this morning before I left work.  Tastes like soap. When I had a mug before I left home, it didn't, so the flask was the culprit.  [smiley=puke.gif] :\\\'( [smiley=sleeping2.gif]
