I'm having a bit of a saga with Coast at the moment :(.

I have a ticket for the Christmas Draw on my RAF base next Friday (14th) and it's black tie/evening gown dress. I've been in need of a new evening gown for a while (mainly to take with me to the Falklands), and last week I realised they had some nice dresses on offer on the Coast website. So, I ordered one in a size 8 and two in a size 10 last Tuesday, with free shipping. Unfortunately, they were out of stock in the short length (I'm only 5'2"), so I had to order the regular (which I know is a few inches too long for me, and I'd have to get it turned up).

Then 2 days later on Thursday, I went on the website again to check my order status and discovered they now had the size 8 dress available in short, so I ordered it - but had to pay £3.99 for shipping as it didn't qualify for free shipping.

Then on Friday, I checked the site again, and suddenly they had 30% off everything... so I ordered another size 8 short, and one of the size 10 regular length at the cheaper price, with the intention of sending the others back.... and I paid £4,99 for nominated day delivery, so they would be delivered today.

It's now Monday afternoon:
- the first order arrived yesterday morning (at 9:30am on a Sunday - I wasn't even dressed yet!)
- the second order has yet to be dispatched (and I have yet to receive any tracking info)
- the third order, which I paid extra to have it delivered TODAY, also has yet to be dispatched (and I have yet to receive any tracking info)!
- I returned the first order today, because the size 10s were too big, and the size 8 regular was too long

So, now I'm not sure whether I should just wait out the third order and hope it arrives today, or call them and ask what's going on (I'm at work tomorrow which is why I went for delivery today). It wouldn't be an issue if I hadn't paid an extra £5 for faster shipping to get it on Monday, when I could have gone for the free shipping option and waited a few more days.

However, I'm hesitant to call because don't want to draw attention to the fact that I've ordered the same 2 dresses 3 times in the space of a week :P.

As an update to this:
- at 16:22 today, I got a tracking email for the third order, but it just said there was no order found yet
- at 18:37, the tracking info was updated to say that the order had been placed and that it would be delivered between 8am and 8pm tomorrow

Problem is, I'll be out at work from 6:30 am until 7:30pm tomorrow, but it needs to be signed for... which is why I paid extra for delivery today :(.

At least on their website, they say that if your order doesn't arrive within the promised timeframe, you can contact them and they will refund the shipping costs... so that's something, at least.

Margo - Hang in there. Except for the government jobs I've been offered but ran up against the security issue thing, the only way I got my last four jobs were word-of-mouth. Someone knew someone who was looking, and that I was looking, and put the two of us together. Never underestimate the role of networking. If there's any sort of professional organization you could join?
I unfortunately can't network the way I did in the US. The meetings are all too far away and during the week, and no organiser has responded to me if they are able to accommodate the fragrance allergies in their meeting space. In my old city people were happy to adjust. And anxiety keeps me from reaching out cold to recruiters for companies. I'm just completely fed up with the culture here, that you can't possibly learn anything you don't already have experience with.

Ugh, that is so annoying!

I hope it arrives soon and is a perfect fit.

Well, it’s out for delivery now... but I’m at work, so I probably won’t get it until tomorrow, as it needs a signature... and I’ve just had notification that the second order has now been dispatched and will arrive tomorrow as well.

I can feel myself getting sick and I I have my team meal out Thursday and my friends from work are surprising me Saturday for my birthday. Dunno what we’re doing but I know we’re traveling somewhere and I just don’t have time to be sick

And the dress saga continues...

They delivered the package to my neighbour so I came home on my lunch break to pick it up - tried on the 'short' length dress and got very worried when I couldn't get it zipped up at the back, since the size 8 in the long length fit okay (it was just a little tight, but still manageable).

Finally managed it, but could barely breathe... then when I took it off, I discovered they'd sent me the size 6, not the size 8... no wonder it didn't fit!

Luckily, I have the second order of the size 8 in the short length coming tomorrow... but now I'm worried that it will also be a size 6 :(. I guess if that happens, I can get them to send me a size 8 in the longer length, but then I'll have to pay to get it turned up, and I only have 9 days until the event.

I do have a back-up dress, but it doesn't fit me as well.

Oh gosh talk about disaster! I do hope tomorrow’s delivery dress fits you.

I hate dress shopping, just throwing it out there LOL

That's really annoying.  I would expect Coast to be better than this.

Oh no! Hopefully if they don't send you a second size 8, you can call them up and they can rush a new one to you given it was their error

I love my job but my manager is shite at making the rotas. I discovered that tomorrow,  on my day off, she messed up and had no one scheduled. So knowing panic would ensue tomorrow morning and I would be called, I brought it to her attention today. So now I'm working tomorrow plus, after reviewing the rotas for the rest of the week,  and discovering more of her mistakes, I'm now working 6 days this week plus an open to close shift on Saturday. I love my job. I'm just going to keep repeating that when my shite customers are being rude a-holes.

I hope so. My concern is that they were out of stock of the size 8 last Tuesday, then it was back in stock again on Thursday (when I put the 2 orders in), then out of stock again over the weekend, and now back in stock on Tuesday. So I'm not sure whether they do actually have any, or if all they have is the size 6 and the website is wrong.

Still no sign of it yet today.

Yesterday the tracking said it would be here between 8am and 8pm today (a 12-hour window), but now it says between 8am today and 8 pm tomorrow (a 36-hour window). The tracking was updated at 4am this morning to say it was received at the national depot at 2:05 am. Then it was updated again at 12:23 pm today to say it was received at the national depot at 2:06 am! As far as I can tell, it's still at the national depot.... Edit: actually, it has just updated again and as of 12:23 it is at my local depot.

I'm working nights tonight and tomorrow, so I'll be annoyed if they end up delivering it tomorrow morning when I'm trying to sleep.
