Some dude from Boston is trying to make a "straight pride parade" happen. I'm fuming. Also, I'm just incredibly embarrassed every time they reference this is all going down in Boston. This is not my Boston. UGH.

There has been so much news from back there that makes me say "This is not my America".  I'm waiting it out in hopes (however misguided) that things settle down after the next election.  I'm really feeling like I should not watch the new series of Handmaids Tale that starts today (I think).  It's too plausible.  (Of course, I will watch it, but it won't make me feel good!)

8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Think it's tomorrow that it starts. I cannot wait for it! Saw the trailer and it looks so good (but arguably very chilling with the direction things are heading back there).

I know that very few (if any) will turn up for the "straight pride parade" (if it even happens...I have no idea where they will get the money for all this...probably donations from disgusting companies that normal, non-homophobic people probably wouldn't support anyways), but it's just gross to even hear it talk about being a potential. It just reminds me of the bros who scream about it being national women's day and ask when "national men's day" is, yet on November 19th they will be silent about being "proud to be men and how far men have come" because they don't really care about having a "special holiday" they just want to "make a point" (that they are total d***** bags).

I'm sure they would be absolutely thrilled hahaha

I hope they just hold loads of LGBTQ events on the same day (if this does manage to happen) that just pulls all the crowds in instead :D

Can I just say how much I hate work away days? Lunch was bread and hummus, now it's 4 more hours of pretending to care during awkward team building exercises.

Bread and hummus sounds like a (nice) side dish, but how is that enough food?!  And no veggies or anything to dip?  Just bread?

That's what we all said. Then the cheese bread came out, apparently that's the main. That and coffee. Plenty of chocolate bars though.

aww mate...I don't blame you for loathing your away day right now lol. Can you at least convince them next time to do something a bit more...exciting or at least better food?

I always hated that "team building" crap. They were my co-workers - we didn't have to be friends. We needed to be functional and polite, and get the blasted job done. It seems to really have kicked in in the late '90s. Sorry to see it's still going on.

That doesn't count as "lunch". That might, in a stretch, count as "snack." 8)

Right? I mean, how hard would it be for them just to order a couple of pizzas and maybe a salad or two?

I never mind team building when it involves pizzas! Or doing something fun. Like at least let you all go do the Crystal Maze or crazy golf or a few drinks at the pub or something! not a sad bowl of hummus... :(

Guilty as charged!  There was only so much bread so double dipping on my part was the only way I was going to get enough hummus not to die of hunger.

And the afternoon activity was some kind of ipad assisted treasure hunt.  Do you think that it's fun to navigate around King's Cross with Google Maps finding random shite?  Neither do I.  And there was never any explanation about why we did this, or what we were supposed to learn.  I think the only thing my team members learned is I don't like doing silly crap like that, and when I get bored and hungry I also get angry.
