We could debate how fair it is for the BBC to use license money to make such an excellent podcast and compete with everyone else.

If you liked that movie, you'll also like the podcast "13 Minutes to the Moon" by the BBC World Service.  It examines the 13 minutes up to the landing in minute detail.  The more detail you learn, the crazier it is that it actually happened.

I'm on the episode where they talk about the system of reading the numbers off the computer and comparing them to a graduated marker etched into the window in order to evaluate the landing site.  Unbelievable!

Thanks very much for that info. I'll definitely check it out.

FYI, tonight (10 July) on BBC 2 at 9pm they're showing "8 Days to the Moon and Back", and Sunday the 14th at 11pm BBC 4 is showing "For All Mankind".

Ah, I don't mind. I'd rather that than any more shows starring Justin Fletcher on CBeebies. I swear the most dangerous place on Earth is between that clown and a TV camera. (I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old; I watch way too much children's television.)

Thanks for that as well, I ran into a guy at the showing of apollo 11 who had seen an advance screening of one of those and said it was really good.

Can you believe that Justin headlines Bestival?  He must be the richest Clown in the world.

I used to love watching CBeebies with my kids.  Big Cook Little Cook was always my favourite.

Then came a brief period of CBBC, and then straight to Netflix.  God knows what they are watching now.

I remember seeing "For All Mankind" in 1989 (on HBO, maybe?) and loving it, so I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

I honestly had no idea. I just assumed they keep him in a vault in Manchester and break him out whenever Andy (the one with the floppy hair and huge nostrils) gets lost travelling through time to steal dinosaur parts from the distant past in an effort to cover up for his incompetent job performance at the National Museum.

My little one still likes Bing, but she is also obsessed with Shimmer and Shine on Milkshake (Channel 5), so there's a lot of sparkly pink stuff around my house. The older one has moved on to Lego Ninjago and Lego Star Wars, so he spends most of his time whirling around and whacking his sister with a lightsaber.

Is that the National Geographic "For All Mankind"?  It's on youtube, if so.  ;D

We have one that is always coming up to the door trying to be let in. She's the sweetest. We have an indoor cat so the door is always closed, and they haven't had a stare down through the glass yet!

I’m allergic, but I stupidly always let them because I just love them. We had a stray wondering around work the other day, was such a handsome guy too. My neighbour has about four cats and they are always fighting, killing animals and going to the toilet in our garden. I don’t want to say anything because I like my neighbour ( and the mouse free zone) but the poo gets me.

It's funny how everyone recognises that it's completely crazy to let animals run wild, digging up everyone's garden, crapping everywhere and killing everything. But people with cats think it's worth it and everyone else is pressured to accept it or be seen as a cat hating nutter.  I'm not blaming cats, they just do what they do, but it is funny how society had reached this bizarre level of acceptance.

What's crazy is that it's considered CRUEL to have your cats indoors-only.

I welcome anyone to come interview Sobe and see if he's happy or not.  About a month ago we left the house to run errands and got home 2.5 hours later.  And we saw we  had left the front door WIDE OPEN while we were gone (kids).  Cat was asleep on the sofa.  He has ZERO desire to go outside.

Yeah.

I had an outdoor cat when I was a kid. We moved, and he became an indoor cat. Lived to a ripe old age and was as happy as could be. And not the potential prey for truck or car wheels, coyotes, or large birds of prey. He did not foul the neighbors' property, become flea-infested, or get ticks.

Since then I've had several cats. All were kept completely indoors - except for the time I was able to build a fenced catio on the balcony.

I used to volunteer with a no-kill cat shelter. One of our requirements was that the cats be kept indoors, perpetually. I listened to some very heated discussions between the staff and people wanting cats.... And then there were the people who would not spay or neuter their cats. We never let one go out of the shelter intact, but were inundated every year with people who had a mama cat with several kittens and they couldn't keep them. Literally, the nursery exploded with kittens every spring. If they're not going to fix the cat, at least they could keep it inside.

It's like talking to a wall, though.

Yeah I was going to say that I think they do tend to live longer because you're removing a lot of risks to the animal's health and safety by making them indoor only (I don't have a cat so not weighing in on this by any means, just saying that I remember reading at one point that indoor cats have a longer life expectancy due to this).

The first thing I did when I got to the UK was to have the garden enclosed.  My neighbour said she didn't mind cats in her garden and I said she might change her mind when she had 7 of them enjoying her garden facilities.

Their beds and food and litter are kept in the laundry room (yes, it is a large laundry room) and they come and go through the window.  Having said that, one of them is upstairs having a snooze on the bed right now.

So our cats (only 5 left now) enjoy both worlds and we don't have any unexpected visitors to upset them either.

It snowed the first year we were here.  They had never seen snow before.

There is mesh along the top of the walls so they can't leave.

Do they not try to get out of the garden? (genuine question as I've never owned cats hah)
