Seems I'm having 'one of those days' today :(.

Last night was my first shift back at work after Christmas, and it was a night shift. I didn't sleep that well afterwards this morning, and so woke up with a massive headache. However, I had a ton of errands to run today, so I dragged myself out of bed and went into town.

First stop was my GP surgery because for some reason my online appointment booking password had stopped working. I asked the receptionist if she could find out what was going on and she told me I'd been unregistered from the surgery on October 17th! Only reason I can think of for why it happened is because I was in the Falklands - and we fill out RAF health centre forms there... however, a) we specifically request that are records are not transferred, b) I successfully requested a repeat prescription in early October and c) I had a GP appointment booked for 17th October (which I cancelled because I managed to request my repeat prescription online)!

So, I had to take away new registration forms, go back home, fill them out and grab some proof of address, so I could re-register.... and now I can't make an appointment until the registration has gone through, but I'm leaving the UK again in 4 weeks and need to get a prescription refill (for which I need an annual review) :(.

All of that then made me about an hour late for doing everything else, which meant the Post Office had closed before I could pick up a parcel I ordered last week (which was one of the main reasons I was going into town!).

Not your day today! Hope it improves for you and you get your rx sorted before you have to leave.

UK bureaucracy makes me really sad. I offered to help a small local volunteer group build their website so they could use community funds they're trying to get towards more of their community based goals, but because I'm not an official company with a quote (I'm just a volunteer and got them quotes on hosting costs) they can't use me. I feel like nothing I can do in this country will ever be good enough. I've never felt so hopeless without a path forward.

Ksand - I'm sorry you're having one of those days :( Sounds like the type of day that you just wish you didn't get out of bed! I can completely relate.

Yesterday was my first day back at work as well but luckily I don't do shifts....was just hard as the jet lag was killing me for some reason (doesn't usually bother me too much). I laid awake at 2AM the "night" before with my husband saying "I'M SO BORED!!" I was even ready to get up and get a snack but he stopped me and said "Don't eat at 2AM because you're bored!!". Was afraid I wouldn't sleep through the night last night because I fell asleep right after dinner for a few hours but I was okay in the end thankfully!

Margo - Yeah I totally agree that it's frustrating that they seem to have these rules that are completely backwards. I know they are in place to protect themselves but it's from a threat that is very rare and minor that it's only really hurting them more than it is helping them! Loads of people would LOVE to have the free help I'm sure, but they just can't get past all the red tape they set for themselves!

Don't you hate passengers that sit in your car WEARING A FULL WINTER COAT and then complain that the heating is too high?

Hello?  I  can't drive while wearing a parka so the heat stays on!

hahahaha I apologise on behalf of us all. My husband can't (doesn't like to but physically can) drive long distances wearing a coat so he takes it off but I freeze easily...but then he cranks the heat so I eventually start melting from the heat to which he tells me I should take my coat off. I tell him he should put his on then we wouldn't need the heat on so high!

Super annoyed that Rik has just told me "oh yeah, you can watch Bird Box as I already watched it last night because you went to bed at 9"

It sounds stupid but I make an effort to not watch things I even think he'll like so I can watch it with him but he basically doesn't give that same level of consideration. It's not the end of the world but what it says to me is anything outside of the few shows we watch with dinner are fair game and he's not bothered in watching with me or separately.  First world annoyances lol

Well, when someone is obviously working at maintaining a close relationship, and the other party is oblivious.... yoiks! I'd be annoyed, too. (And they do require maintenance.)   ::)

I settle down to watch something that we have both been looking forward to - and hubby goes asleep.

Thankfully it's not indicative of how close we are relationship wise (we might arguably be TOO close), but I was more annoyed that this is the second time he's watched something I was waiting to watch together or else I would've seen it by now.

I settle down to watch something that we have both been looking forward to - and hubby goes asleep.

Wouldn't mind if he said "want to watch this" and I fell asleep but he had actually asked if I wanted to watch a film and I said "not anything I have to pay too much attention to as I'm exhausted and am probably going to sleep." it's fair play for you to  if watch you settle down to watch it THEN he falls asleep without warning.

I’d skip Birdbox if I were you - it was just “Meh”

I was wondering if that'd be the case. Wasn't sure if it was worth all the hype (or the news about these people competing for the Darwin award because of it).
