STA Travel? Do you need the card?
« on: December 05, 2010, 02:25:32 PM »
Was just wondering if you HAD to buy the discount card when you book with STA Travel? I know I've purchased flights with them before...but that's because I've had the card in the past.  I'm a student, and under 26.

Before booking, the website clearly stated the following:
"Limited Eligibility: To qualify for this fare you must be under the age of 26 or a full time student in possession of a valid ISIC card, aged between 16 & 34."

According to this, since I'm under 26, but am not in possession of a valid ISIC card, I'm fine, right? I don't need their $22 card?   I'm just really surprised to have found a cheap one way ticket is all, and think there has to be a catch somewhere!

I purchased a discounted ticket with them in February without having a card. :)

yeah, I've been booking without the card, too.  It hasn't been a problem.  I did have some difficulty checking in for the return portion of my flight yesterday with flights I booked through them, but it had nothing to do with being an STA ticket/not having the ID.

(Apparently United/Air Canada/Lufthansa updated to a new system without beta testing it, and now, none of the systems "talk" to each other the way the should.  Which might also explain why I got such a crappy seat :()

I have booked many trips through STA Travel in the past, and never been asked for my discount card at the airport.

Happy Travels!  :)
