Living in Essex area? Anyone? And recommendations?
« on: December 05, 2010, 08:14:30 PM »
Hi Everyone! Just curious if there's anyone here that's from the Essex Area??? Any can anyone recommend any good areas to try to find a place? I'm trying to get an idea of pricing and that, but I want to find a good place to live. Dan has family in Laindon, which is a nice town(?) . . .

Hiya

I'm not so familiar with the Essex area, although there are some nice areas around no doubt.

I'm sure other members will post up with more local knowledge though soon enough.

To start you off, take a look here on Rightmove

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/svr/2707;jsessionid=71F6A36A6912FA4788B8E09D2649C4B5

You can search by the area and see the pricing levels for rentals as well as purchasing pricing.

To help with checking out the area, take a look at upmystreet

http://www.upmystreet.com/

this uses statistics for allsorts of elements as well as provide links to associated elements to look into.

Cheers, DtM! West London & Slough UK!

It all depends where you and he will plan to work and where you can commute from there.

I have friends that live in "Basvegas" / Basilton and quite like it. It is a pretty easy commute to London and close enough that you can go for nights out there.

Personally my favorite town in Essex is Saffron Walden, though it is closer to Cambridge than London. A friend of mine used to live there and it is gorgeous. A very small town feel but still has plenty of restaurants and pubs. If it was convenient for us at all, I would force my husband to move there!
