Area for older single in Central London?
« on: December 26, 2010, 11:44:30 AM »
Hello and Happy Holidays to all!

I need some advice and would appreciate some input from the board's intelligentsia...

To make a long story short, I know someone (single, late 50s) who loves the King's Road, but simply can't afford to live there without breaking the bank. She's in Imperial Wharf now, but does not like it either because it is actually quite isolated and dead despite its proximity to the city center!? Does anyone know other areas in London which are similarly trendy and riffraff-free, but possibly less expensive?

I have suggested places like Wimbledon and Greenwich which are further and cheaper, but it's not like I know them well myself. This person whom I am trying to assist also specifies that being single issue is more related to not feeling out of place by being in a suburb with families and children than to finding a partner, if that makes sense?

Any thoughts? Thank you.

Nick

Not sure if it's any cheaper, but thoughts go to Marylebone, Hampstead, Belsize Park, Primrose Hill.  Of course, all will have families there, but all locations are great as a single person too with lovely restaurants and pubs, as well as being very close to central London.
