Wouldn't it be great to win a massive lottery and have the time and money to visit anywhere at anytime?   :)

Now THAT would be cool.   ;D

Hubby and I are planning a trip for a long weekend up to Montreal in April for our anniversary.  After that, I think our nephew and his girlfriend are planning to come to Boston for some time around July.  Then, we're hoping to head to England in Sept/Oct this year and see what happens.

My BFF just found out she is being laid off in two weeks, so plans for Ireland are definitely on hold.  :-X :\\\'( Hope she finds another job soon!

Oh no! What a bummer for you! I hope she finds something soon!  :(

No huge plans here since we're moving to the US in the next few months. I have a friend in the UK having a baby any day now, so I'll go over to visit them and a few other friends hopefully next month. I'd like to do one more trip to the continent before we go, but not sure if finances will allow it!  :-\\\\

We're planning to spend a week in Orlando followed by a week in California sometime in September/October to visit DH's various friends. That and I am desperate to go to Harry Potter world ;D

Trip to Spain booked for next month! A week at home, then off to Bath for the LitFest. Then in May I'm off on my annual hajj to the Hay Festival for a week.

FUN! I love Mardi Gras! Are you going to New Orleans, or elsewhere in Louisiana?  :D

I'm hoping once DH gets back to work (dear me, hopefully that will be soon!) we can book something for the three of us to go to Spain or wherever that is cheap and sunny.  ;)

This is a fun thread! :)

I've got nothing planned at all yet for 2011.  Work trips are taking me to Ireland, Germany, down to Fife, and the US in the next few months.  But that's work and not fun relaxing times.

Need to try and sort out my financial situation before I embark on holidays...

We're thinking about going to Cardiff next week just for a short break. Might not sound like much to others but it's an adventure for us!  :)

This is where I'd like to go on holiday in the near future:

Dongegal (a part of Ireland I've never been to)
Cornwall (would be happy to stay in hostels)
Yorkshire Dales (self-catering cottage, not camping)
Scotland (to see Callanish stone circle)
and eventually Philadelphia (will stay with friends, but would be nice if we could afford to stay in B&Bs)
Met husband-to-be in Ireland July 2006
Married October 2007
Became a British citizen 21 July 2011
Separated from husband August 2014
Off on an Irish adventure October 2014

I had an afternoon nap today and dreamt that DH and I were going on a cruise to Finland. Does that count?  ;)

FUN! I love Mardi Gras! Are you going to New Orleans, or elsewhere in Louisiana?  :D

The in-laws are in the heart of Arcadiana, so we'll be in deepest, darkest, swampiest Cajun country for Mardi Gras. The festivals are nearly as large in scale as New Orleans, but less touristy. Some of the local traditions (that I've only heard about, but have been invited to this time) sound quite barmy.

@Phatbeetle: DOWN to Fife. Boy oh boy, you sure are north! DH is desperate to see Scotland, so we've got a Highlands roadtrip on our radar for some time before the winter snows set in.

It's a good job I've got a new holiday year starting in April, lol. I can see my allowance being eaten up just in chauffeuring DH around the things he's always wanted to see. Thankfully I managed to get my request in early on the Royal Wedding "11 days off for the price of 3", so we'll be going somewhere in April, maybe that would be a good time to visit the Highlands?

Any advice on where to go in late April? Looking for warm and an even combination of activities (golf, hiking, etc), beach/pool, sightseeing and nightlife. Preferably not Canaries as bf has done them. I'm still in the states but will be in Notts by then. BF is SOOOO not into planning travel and I'm log jammed at work for another month.
