When phatbeetle said 'theatre', it triggered something else! What about volunteering as an usher at a local theatre? You'd get to see things for free as well as meeting new people! I used to do it in the US and it was great!

Good luck, I think it's so fantastic that you're not letting this eat you up and you're gonna get out there and take over Leeds!!  :)

Heck no, thanks to all my lovely friends- I'm back like gangbusters in 2011!

Chary, I have a friend that volunteers at Stage at Leeds, I may look into that.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Hey Sarah, The Bowery is a great cafe and gallery space in Headingley.  They also do evening classes and workshops in stuff like creative writing, knitting and sewing, photography, etc.

http://www.thebowery.org/workshop_adult.html

There is also a rambling group that meets up every Wednesday morning at 10 in front of Morrisons, but they all seem to be people over 60 or so.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.  :)

I think Sarah would be better off looking for a weekend rambling group - otherwise I have a feeling it might be mostly the 60+ crowd.  :-\\\\

That makes sense as they'd be mostly retired people during the week.

Hey, The Bowery sounds good! I might sign up for the life drawing myself when(ever) I get over there.  :)

It's a date -- we can go to the Bowery. It's actually at the corner of our street  ;D Headingley is looking up (but I do miss the old shops)

This is true - I know of that Wednesday morn rambling group here, and I do believe it is mostly OAPs for that.  ;)

Sarah, I thought of you and how about a salsa dancing club/group/meeting - I am sure I have seen or heard of those here in Leeds (city centre) - sometimes a particular bar/club has a salsa night.  Let me see...

Or how about flamenco?

Another thing - well I need to sort through rather a lot of paperwork in this house...  :-[  But every now & then, we get one booklet or another that lists all the clubs, meetings, etc - stuff to do here in Horsforth.  Which may or may not be useful if you are moving to city centre.  If I can find an extra one in a pile around here, you are welcome to it.

We need to get together & catch up soon!  :)  I haven't been home for awhile though & I really need to get my house sorted out.  :-[

Those dance classes sound like a blast!  I'll have to look into that.  :-*

C- whenever you want to get together, just shoot me a text.  :D  I actually decided today to stay here in Horsforth.  I'm moving a wee bit closer to you into a house share in a few weeks with a friend and another roommate.  It's temporary for now to see if I like living with other people, but it's cheap and cheerful.  But, I'll be a neighbor to you and Andee for a bit longer at least!!  ;)

Cool.  I wondered about you moving to city centre, because well city centre can be a bit dead at certain times.  I know some young singles who live there in modern flats, but sometimes access to shops & things going on is a bit limited in city centre at particular hours, IMO.  I worried about that being perhaps more isolating.  :-\\\\

Thanks for that info, I never would have known that!!  I think staying in this neighborhood is good for me.  I just made some new friends at the pub (there's another American just down the road from me, taking over one by one we are!!) and I feel settled here.

So of course we want details on all the updates...  You've been bowling, out & about, out for a meal, someone sent you flowers...

What's going on?!  ;D

Well, I did go bowling which was a lot of fun and I met a few friends who all want to get together and do a Pub Quiz Sunday nights up the road.

I joined a dating website and went on a couple dates with nice people and last week I met a very, very nice Scotsman and we're sorta dating.  It's early days, but he has definitely made an impression.  A couple of very nice meals out and flowers and all that.  He's lovely.  I'm very much taking it slow, but so far he seems to be great!  ;D

I'll keep y'all on the up and up.   ;)
