Mother of 3 US citizens
« on: January 11, 2011, 02:46:22 PM »
Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself as somewhat of an interloper here. I have joined because although a Brit, I lived in the USA (WA) for 7 years and had my 3 children there, so they are all US citizens. We're planning to take them back for a vacation this summer, to see where they were born (a not wonderfully attractive hospital) and the sights of Washington (truly wonderfully attractive) and some of our (wonderful and attractive) friends. Sadly the US is a big place and people move around so a visit to all our friends and relations would entail a journey of several thousand miles and more time than we have.

I admit I joined partly to ask about renewing their US passports - can anyone suggest which forum would be best for this question?

Welcome to UKY!

US Passports for Children must be renewed in person at the US Embassy:

Hello and welcome!  If you don't mind sharing, what brought you to the US?

Hi WebyJ: yes, I know about the trip to Grosvenor Square and the no phones / no electronic equipment / no bags etc. My questions are about the photo age progression they ask for - is there a forum where I can ask about this or should I just ask my questions here?

Hi Persephone: My husband worked for a company which was bought up by (guess who) Microsoft. So they were transferred lock, stock and barrel to Redmond, WA. A very fortunate turn of events for us I know, but I confess to being glad to be back here now so that the kids can see more of their grandparents etc. But as they get older the kids are curious to know where they come from and proud to explore their US nationality (their affiliation seems to depend these days on what sport is on TV and which nation is excelling (cricket at the moment so Brit, but US during the (winter or summer) Olympics)

My apologies your initial post was vague as to what your question was and therefore not able to direct you to the proper section as it could go in a few different places (visas & Citizenship, Pregnancy & Parenting Issues, or Travel & Transport -- depending on what the question was).

We recently had a member who did a renewal for their child who was under age 5 when the passport was issued you can find that thread here: http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=65697.0

Fell free to ask any questions even if you are unsure of where to put them as the moderators can always move it to the proper location if need be.

Again, welcome to UKY!

Hi thanks for the welcome, and yes sorry I realise I was vague. I have tried my questions in the Pregnancy & Parenting issues.

That's really cool that your family was offered a chance to live abroad.  Sorry, I don't have children and do not know how to get children's US passports renewed, but we have lots of proud parents on here who can probably help!

Hi and welcome to UKY!   :)

I believe WebyJ's already sent you off in the right direction for the progression photos.  Good luck!
