DS-230 & DS-2001
« on: August 26, 2004, 05:22:54 PM »
Hi all,

Today I sent off my I-130, supporting documents, fee, etc, but I only just saw the DS-230 and DS-2001 forms!  I know the DS-2001 is just to let them know you're ready for an interview, but what about the DS-230??  I'm the only person immigrating to the US (my wife is the US Citizen), and a lot of the questions look exactly like the ones on the G-325A (Biographic details)...  Do I need to fill that one out too?  And if I do, can I bring it with me to the interview, or do they need to be posted?

Why does the US immigration process have to be so difficult!!!

Thanks!

S.

Oh, forgot to add...  a question for Marlespo!  What did you put as your case number on DS-2001 if you only just mailed the I-130??  And I assume the DS-0230.pdf document available on the usembassy.org.uk site is okay to use even though it says "expires 05/31/2004" in the top right hand corner?

Thanks!

A lot of the questions will be the same, its a lot of repeating. :/

For the G-325A's, it is easiest to fill them out online in Adobe, and then print out 4 copies. If a field is too small for your answer to be typed in, then do it by hand. Otherwise you spend hours writing everything 4 times.

You fill out the DS-230. You only fill out Part 1 though. Part 2 goes with you to the interview, and you sign it in front of them. You send off the completeled DS-230 along with the checklist (DS-2001) - - - do you have your police records?

Wherever it asks you for your case number, leave it blank. You don't know it yet, and that's fine.

You'll probably get the DS-230 in the mail in a few weeks, because they won't have known you already sent it in. They are assuming you're doing it the slow way now - but you're not. DO it now to save a few weeks!

Am I making sense? :)

And yep - use whatever form is on the embassy's webpage.
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Thanks!

I've already sent over the G-325A forms with the I-130 (I used the full version of Acrobat to modify the field lengths :))...

Thanks for the info - I'll get on to it right away - and yes, I already have the police record :)
