If money were no object, I would.....
« on: January 22, 2011, 02:43:28 PM »
I started thinking about this because I'm not that happy at work at the moment-things are changing there, and not for the better, but, I do still like working with young children. DH asked me the question originally. I would answer the question:..."go back to school at MMU or University of Chester and get my Bachelor's degree in Early Years Education." Anyone else?

Get a PhD since I wouldn't have to worry about funding.  Buy a modest house with a spare room to turn into my library.  Buy loads of pricey art books to fill it with.  :) Spend the rest of my days reading, gardening, and perfecting my cooking skills.  Oh, and taking in abandoned/unwanted dogs and kitties.

Almost exactly the same, but mine would be pricey history books!  I would love more of a farmhouse with land though for the doggies and kitties to run around in.  And I don't like gardening, so cooking and reading and taking lots of photos.  Plus, I'd travel around the world using only trains and when that wasn't possible only short flights.

Travel, travel, travel!!!

This sounds pretty cliche, but I really would do this- Because I absolutely love giving back- I volunteer for many different organisations, and I wish I had more time to do so- so I would do lots of charity volunteer work

Own a sheep farm in the middle of nowhere. Like my own Orkney Island or something!

Oh, yeah!  And definitely volunteer talking to people and exciting people about history.  Although dh says that if we ever says if we ever got any money he'd have to hide it from me, because I'd give to nearly every charity I see.  If we don't have children, I already have a few charities I'd want to leave money to.

Party like Silvio....

I'd travel too! But only if we could take our cat with us everywhere. I suppose with unlimited money, that wouldn't be a problem!

I'd buy a giant house in Pembrokeshire, near the seaside but in the country. Sheep would be good too. (Not that I'm copying you, phatbeetle, but I think we have similar ideas!). We'd live there most of the year, but travel mostly in the wintertime.

The house would have a HUUUUUGE kitchen with slate floors, an Aga as well as a four-oven ordinary cooker. And loads of worktop space. And a giant farmhouse table. And a sofa. And a fireplace.

And there'd be a library. A very large one.

And a wine cellar. Full of amazing bottles.

I'd have a small pied-a-terre in Hay-on-Wye as well. And perhaps a small but perfectly formed flat in Paris. And a beach house in Mauritius.

Quit work  ;D
I'd pay off all my debts, all my parents debts, certain long time friends debts.  Spend more time in Massachusetts with my parents while i still have them and they are well enough to enjoy things.
Buy a huge home here in Scotland and one back in Massachusetts in Osterville or Wellfleet (on Cape Cod) .. Travel between the two.
adopt a child, volunteer my time with children at a hospital(kinda be like a play volunteer and have all the fun but without the responsibilty of being a RN) vounteer with animals (be a socialisation/play volunteer) Get a dog (not sure what breed) :)
Buy a top of the range DSLR and a top of the range Laptop. Travel travel travel..
Those are a few of the things I'd do.
Lots of other things too.. but thats a start :)

buy up enough land to put two houses on.
build said houses.  http://www.thehousedesigners.com/plan/kensington-4333/  i'm a HUGE fan of wrap around porches.  ( one would be for my mother. )

donate to every animal shelter in the united states and the uk.  hopefully pave the way for more no kill shelters to emerge.  possibly start my own.

buy a guitar and teach myself to play! ( going to do this anyway! lol )

TRAVEL.
