What are your favourite blogs & why?
« on: February 04, 2011, 10:57:58 AM »
I know someone on here posted awhile back asking for people's expat blogs, but I am asking something different (although it could include expat blogs).

What are your favourite blogs?  And why?

I mean, anything & everything - could be an expat blog, but also stuff like issues, special interests, activities, etc.  Cooking, travel, hobbies, sports, entertainment, just whatever - anything & everything.

 :)

The only one I've followed regularly for any length of time is Pharyngula (warning, contains blue language and e-mails from crazy creationists), because I'm a rude, angry atheist and I like associating with same  ;D I've also recently started following Jerry Coyne's blog, Why Evolution Is True.

Hmm, I really like food and home blogs the most.

Apartment Therapy, The Kitchn, Design Sponge, Pioneer Woman, BBC Good Food, and Brown Eyed Baker are the blogs I pay attention to the most.  I also really like Passive Aggressive Notes and Cake Wrecks for a good chuckle.

I also have some National Geographic thing that comes into my Google Reader, and it's chock full of great stories about giant squids and archaeological discoveries and such.  I love that stuff!  :D

I'll RSS just about anything, though.  I <3 Google Reader so much.

Edited to include links!  :)

I love Apartment Therapy and A Cup of Jo

The one I always read is Posie Gets Cozy, written by Alicia Paulson. She writes crafting books professionally, but the blog is about her everyday life and is beautifully curated. http://rosylittlethings.typepad.com/

I usually only read blogs on slow days at work, so mine are all of the funny/rude/internet-time-waster/sports genre.  If you're looking for useful information, please do not click on any of these links.   :)

27b/6: This is the guy that tried to use a drawing of a spider to pay a bill.  He spends a lot of time messing with people via email.

Awkward Family Photos: Exactly what it sounds like.

Fail Blog: Random funny dumb internet stuff.

Off The Bench: Funny news from the world of sports.

I also have a number of NFL blogs I read:

Pro Football Talk: News/rumors about the NFL.

Advanced NFL Stats: Ridiculously in depth statistical analysis of how football teams win and lose.

Bob Sturm - Live from Lewisville: Ridiculously in depth statistical analysis of how the Dallas Cowboys win and lose.

I follow this one too. This guy is hilarious. The one with the missing cat is classic!

Oh my goodness chary!  :o  I've never followed any blogs other than a friend of mine when she was traveling.  It seems an awful lot to keep up with!  I wouldn't know where to start, but maybe someone can convert me.....

I use the fabulous Google Reader, so they all get viewed on one page and the updates show up as and when. It's not really that bad!  ;)

Yeah, Google Reader is the way forward.  It keeps track of it all for you, and you can share posts with friends as well.  Sometimes I like waiting a few days and then I'll spend my Sunday morning in my jammies sipping on a coffee and catching up on my blogs!  :)

I follow some blogs via Facebook like Regretsy and Pioneer Woman. I'm also a big fan of Dooce.com. She's considered a mommy blogger, but her blog is not all about kids and she's got such an irreverant attitude towards things. She's not as good as she used to be before she got so successful, but I still read her.

I follow a few blogs of expats (Bmore! and others) but nothing religiously. I also read a lot of craft and cooking blogs.

Andee, I'd heard of Google reader but don't use it either. I think I ought to go investigate because there are a lot of blogs I want to follow more, but I just get tired of remembering to look! :P
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
