I suppose I should introduce myself, since I've been posting on here for about a week and lurking for much longer.
My name is Taurean and I live in in Seattle now, but I'm very much from Portland. My UKC partner and I met in Seattle while he was at art school and I was having a quarter life crisis, and eventually decided to move to England. Unfortunately, we didn't do our research about the whole process, so after 3 months in Brighton with him, I had to move back over here (by way of Montreal for the summer) and have spent the last few months doing not very much at all besides getting my application ready and doing some freelance work in translation and publishing.
My application is being judged in the next few days and, as long as everything is in order, I plan to be back in Blighty within a week or two.
PS. I can't even begin to say how helpful this forum has been. It's gotten me through a lot of anxiety--thanks to all of you for contributing your knowledge about moving to the UK. UKY is an amazing resource and I'm glad to be a part of it.
