Oh man, I find anything warmer than 75 in central London to be verging on torture.  The tube and buses are gross and stores are miserable to go in and, to me, it feels much, much warmer to me than it really is.

This is exactly how I feel although I think my threshold for torture is more like 72.  Not being able to escape the heat into an air conditioned bus, tube or shop, really make even a mild summer unbearable in London.

The weather today in my bit of Yorkshire is BEAUTIFUL!!!
Blue skies, fluffy clouds, and 47*F.
If I'm going to complain when it's icky then I should be extra thankful when it's great.   ;D

Same here! My weather situation has definitely improved.

Can you imagine if they had to deal with the wollop that most of the US (esp Chicago) had recently? And they managed to be operational again within about 36 hours of a very significant snowfall.

Ahhh, you have to give it to the Great Lakes region for being able to do that. I really missed the speedy clean-up this year after the days of chaos due to an inch of snow! It actually made me consider moving back to Ohio for a while.  :-\\\\

Oh Elle!!!!  Don't say such things!! LOL.  Ohio has many wonderful reasons to be here...beautiful nature parks and preserves, a rich history, many pro and amateur sports teams and sports venues for us regulars to enjoy, culture and art exhibits.....noo, I'm not biased, lol. But missing Ohio because we clean up after mother nature?? heehee, that just sounded so different I had to giggle a bit  ;D

This winter has been especially long, with very cold temperatures and quite a bit of precipitation.  First snowfall in my area was 01 December.  Since then we have seen bits of the grass here and there only one one occasion where typically we spend the majority of winter without a full cover of precip.  Right now I have about 4-6 inches of solid ice on my drive that has destroyed two professional grade snow-blowing machines  >:( and a crust of ice on my lawn that is so thick the poor deer that live about can't break through it to forage for food.  Thus they're eating all my small pines!!!  I feel bad for the little guys, so I won't fuss too much on that one.

We've had 4 separate weather systems in a month that brought us what I've termed SNAIN (snow that looks like rain...it's not light and fluffy so it falls hard and straight-lined like rain...but when it hits the ground it is white, certainly sticks, and has a propensity to become ice in an instant).  There have been more ER and emergency clinic visits for broken bones and sprains from people falling on ice this month than there were the entire year of 2011 at our local hospital  :o

I'll take rainy, foggy, blustery, chilly and dreary for quite a while over this SNAIN and tundra...but right now please hand me my passport and a mai tai, I need a holiday somewhere warm and tropical!! ;D ;D

Ohh there are plenty of things I love about Ohio, but I think the ability to handle any type of weather is what I miss most! (Well... aside from Pepperidge Farm Goldfish!) Sorry to hear the winter's been so rough in C-bus this year! My family is in the northeast (Akron) and it sounds like you've had it worse than them - which is saying something since you at least escape the lake effect. I hope you weren't affected by all those power outages!

(PS - while it's not tropical, I know of a little place in London that makes a killer Mai Tai if you're ever in the area!)

I'll definitely take you up on that Mai Tai, and if you ever want some Goldfish shipped your way just send me a post address and it's done!
