Beauty Salon/Spa - Any good ones?
« on: February 09, 2011, 09:27:13 AM »
Hello everyone!

I live in London and I'm looking for some recommendations for places to get my hair cut and colored.

Also, does anyone have a great place to recommend in London that does good massages/facials

And lastly a place to get my nails done that doesn't cost the ridiculous amount most places charge for it here?

I've tried out a few hair places, but have not found something I loved yet so I thought this would be a great place to ask! Thank you!

I get my hair done at Hobs in West Hampstead & love them!  If you like seated massages I can suggest Walk-in Backrub shops: http://www.walkinbackrub.co.uk/
30 minutes for £30.

Thanks for the suggestions onetiger! I LOVE walk-in backrubs! I will definitely be stopping by one of the shops this weekend! And I will check out Hobs it looks like a nice place and my hair certainly needs some help.

I get my hair cut and colored at John Frieda in Aldford Street in Mayfair.  They're definitely on the pricey end (IMO), but the stylist was recommended by a friend and I've gotten consistently great results for 2 years now.  I try to justify the cost by getting far fewer haircuts because they grow out so well.

I'm a bit of a disaster in the nail department, but I've had fantastic and very long-lasting manicures and pedicures at Nail Station in York Street.  Again, not on the bargain end, but I've never had a manicure last 3+ weeks the way theirs do.

Awesome! Thanks. I will check out the John Frieda and the Nail station. My nails are such a disaster too! I found a place called Spa nails near Old street (10 minutes from there) that is great and a great price, but it's hard to get to and not on my way to or from anything.

Here is the site if anyone is interested: http://www.spanail.co.uk/ Cheap and good quality. Just like getting them done at in NY...but a few pounds more. They do waxing too, but I haven't done that there.

I go to Diana at Smith's Salon in Soho. Her cuts are excellent, grow out well, plus she's a Kiwi so you can moan about being an expat with her.  ;)
