Long time reader, 1st time poster. I'm a new arrival.
« on: February 09, 2011, 05:55:12 PM »
Hi!

I'm Stacy and have used this site the last 5 months or so (not very much of a long time reader), but it has helped me quite a bit. I found information about the expedited settlement visa service at the prefect moment and was able to make it "home" a couple days before Christmas.....because of this site. So, big thank you's for that.

I grew up in the Seattle area and now am with my Husband in Wantage, Oxfordshire.

Now that I am settled in England, I do still have plenty of questions. I would also love to meet some people living in our new location. My husband is English, but we have recently moved to Wantage for his job.

I'm really excited to be more involved with this site. My heart goes out to all the people dealing with tricky immigration issues and/or long processing times. My husband and I have dealt with a few, believe me. About 3 months ago, I wrote my whole "sob" story while waiting for approval, then it was lost/deleted. I spent over an hour writing it and my computer logged me out. Ouch. Anyhoo, I won't let that happen this time. I'll keep it short and sweet.

I'm really looking forward to hearing from people and maybe even meeting them in the not too distance future.

Stacy

Welcome! Sorry to hear you had a few bumps on the road, but hopefully now that your here all is well!
We stole countries with the cunning use of flags. Just sail around the world and stick a flag in. "I claim India for Britain!" They're going "You can't claim us, we live here! Five hundred million of us!" "Do you have a flag …? "What? We don't need a flag, this is our home, you bastards" "No flag, No Country, You can't have one! Those are the rules... that I just made up!...and I'm backing it up with this gun, that was lent to me from the National Rifle Association."

Someone else from Washington.  I wonder if it's just because I'm in Seattle that I notice so many or if people from here are especially attracted to Brits.  Maybe it's an affinity for the weather?

I just wanted to send another big THANK YOU to "the queen of research". I am fairly positive that you were the one who posted the information on the expedited visa settlement service.

I know the information (from reading the blogs) came as a negative surprise to some people, but for me, it came at the best moment. I had just finalized my online application and was about to send  my supporting documents. I found your posting and was able to make the decision to to spend a bit more money for some added security in my future. It worked out for the best in the end.

The visa still took the full 15 days, but I was going through LA (which alerted me of the high volume waiting list).....and on the final day.....I got the okay.

I wouldn't have found the information without your help. So, thank you again.
