Obama's state visit to the UK
« on: February 17, 2011, 08:55:48 PM »
It was announced today that the president will come, to the UK, in the later part of May.

I really like Obama and I think as a president he is squeaky clean but I wonder with all the cut backs he talks of why is he spending all this money on travel. I think he should set an example.

I know they are saying the same thing in the UK about the related costs for a state visit.

Well, he's not exactly going to the UK for a vacation. State visits are part of the job. If he didn't travel internationally then everyone would be talking about how he never left the US, so his foreign policy stinks. He can't win, really.

Everyone talking? Yes they do that no matter what.

He's also going to go to a summit in Europe while he's here, so you could say he's saving money by not making two trips.   ;D

With everything happening with Libya and Japan I think he can justify his visit. I should think that the US and Europe has much to discuss at the moment.

Its the presidents duty to be a representitive for the nation in our global, forigen and domestic policy. Obama gets flack no matter what he does or doesnt do. I'm glad that he's making a trip.

the issues in libya and the middle east warrant this trip no matter what anyone says.

It is so embarrassing to see the presidents limo get stuck or high centered when traveling in a motorcade. Don't they check these things ahead of time?
The driver made a mistake by not approaching this at an angle.
At this point I don't know if the president was aboard the limo. I hope not.

He was. They got him and Michelle Obama out and moved them to the other limo.

I liked how the crowd booed the mini bus when it pulled forward and blocked their view.

No, it gets splattered with paint and the glass gets broken and that what happens when you lend out your wheels to the boy for the night. ;)

They'll be swapping to another limo the moment they have to fill it up at £1.40 a litre!
