Theory exam
« on: March 01, 2011, 08:28:45 PM »
I've taken 5 driving lessons so far (and so far, so good) and have booked in another 5. I'm American and have driven in the states for 40+ years but never in my entire LIFE has ANYTHING deflated my self-confidence like driving over here has.  :\\\'(

Anyway, I'm taking the Theory exam on Saturday and just wondering if anyone has any feedback/experience/tips? I've been studying the manual and DVD - but have slacked up a bit on it for the last month or so. Guess I'll be cramming this week.

I just read the thread about the hazard perception test and the tips about 'clicking' were very helpful.

Appreciate any info -

Thanks,

Denise

You're not alone! I cried after my first lesson. Sigh.  Here's a HUGE thread on driving: http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=52378.0
It is awesome.  The theory test wasn't all that bad really.  I just did the practice tests over and over and over, and it ended up not being too big a deal, just be aware of what YOU need to do in order to study well (for example, I don't learn well out of books, I really need to either learn as I go or practice via tests).
Good luck!

I definitely found that practice tests were the best thing possible for me.  And I took a ton of lessons as well (26+ years of driving) in order to pass - it's not that we're not good drivers, it's that we have to re-learn weird ways of doing it to pass.  You can do it!

If you have an iphone or other smart phone then I would recommend the AA theory test app. It has all the questions and you can take practise tests etc and revise each section - its all my husband used for his and he found it more convenient than cd roms as he could take it anywhere

Just an update: I passed the test with flying colours. Thanks for all your help and encouragement.

Now, 5 more driving lessons and then I think I'll be ready for the Practical.
