What is your favorite restaurant in London??
« on: March 02, 2011, 05:31:27 PM »
DH and I are going to London for a long weekend, so I'm looking for some restaurant recommendations. We're pretty open to everything except sushi. Neither of us like it. We're not looking for anything too fancy, just tasty food!

Prezzo, across Euston Road from Euston train station.  Haven't been in a while but Alex used to eat there fairly often when working at the BT office nearby.

Also liked Garfunkels.

CB-that's an awesome list!  Despite in central London for 2+ years, I haven't been to many of them and we get stuck in very big ruts.  Thanks!   ;D  Of course, I'll never get the spouse to St. John.  As a non-swine consumer, he can't get past the pig on the sign.   :D

Thanks for the recommendations SlicesMissus and CB!

I've actually heard of St John Restaurant, I had a coworker in Bristol who was a real foodie. Not sure if I'm up for eating nose to tail!  :-X

What part of London are you staying in?

Some random faves of ours:

http://www.saigon-saigon.co.uk/ Yummy Vietnamese in Hammersmith

http://www.esarnkheaw.com/ Thai in Shepherd's Bush

http://dishoom.com/ Indian in Covent Garden

http://foodforthought-london.co.uk/ Amazing, cheap veg and vegan place in Covent Garden

http://www.riccardos-italian-restaurant.co.uk/ Beautiful Italian food

If you can be bothered to trek all the way out to Hounslow West tube station, there is an AMAZING Indian dive called Karahi Express. They don't have a website, but it's the real deal.

Have a great time! :)

That looks delicious!

We enjoyed it - ate there with MLG & hubby, and another veggie friend who was visiting from the US at the time.  Recommend booking ahead if you can - it was packed out when we went & it's not a huge place.

My favourite 'restaurant' in London is my BIL's house though - but that's a family secret.  ;)

It's really good, it sounds gross, but honestly, it's fabulous. :)
I'm really one for trying new stuff in London as it's such a great city for eating out :)

I've definitely got more depending on what part of the city you're staying in :)

We're staying in Earls Court, but will travel for food!  ;D

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Now I wish we were staying longer so we could try them all!

Mexican market eating -
http://www.wahaca.co.uk/

Mmmmm Wahaca! I second that. It's definitely not "Mexican" by the American definition, but it's tasty, classy and pretty cheap.

We are going to London on Wednesday for a few days and will probably try Bodeens, especially as it's close to Tower Hill where our hotel is.
