Buy.  When I was younger though, I cobbled together some of my own clothes from thrift shop finds, curtains, you name it.  I remember once there was a party at one of my old jobs and I made a 'dress' out of a green satiny curtain, held up by a black spandex mini-skirt worn as a bustier.  I thought it looked very 'Juliette' (as in Romeo and Juliet).  One of the ladies from my work recognized the curtain as it once hung in her guest bed-room!

Birthday cards?

Buy. I'd love to be artistic enough to make my own, but I need to practice.

Sauces for meals?

How fun! I still love coming up with great outfits from thrift store finds, and have occasionally 'created' an outfit from other materials, but that dress from the curtain and skirt as a bustier sounds like fun! :D

Thanks TamaMoo  :)  I was 23, wouldn't do that now!

Sauces--make my own unless I need to be quick (long day at work and too hungry too make from scratch).

Pasta?

Overall preference is handwritten, but I seem to be switching to email. An email just doesn't have the same joy of knowing someone took the time to sit down and write a letter then mail it.

Candles - buying vs making your own?

Buy. I've made my own and it is fun but you get a lot more choices in scents when you buy.

Soaps?

Buy. I generally use body wash, but love to buy specialty soaps on occasion, but have never tried making any.

Neither.  We don't have many (place is way too small and would look cluttered and no room for a tree).  What we do have were made by hubby's students a few years back.

Buy. I'm not very artistic and there are so many cute wrapping papers out there for not too bad of a price.
