skinny effing jeans
« on: March 18, 2011, 12:26:10 PM »
Maybe I'm getting old, but I think skinny jeans are horrible. They seem constructed specifically to look bad. Maybe that's the point, I don't know.

I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

I think it depends. I think they're perfect for wearing with boots, because they don't get all bunched up when you wear the boot over top of them.  Plus, a lot of people wear skinny jeans that don't actually fit them, or are made with poor quality denim.  The dude in your picture would be the prime example of that.  :)

I think skinny jeans are great. It depends on your build but both my husband and I have skinny legs and normal fitting jeans look too baggy around the legs and skinny jeans look like normal jeans on us. Before they became so popular I always had to sew the legs smaller and I loathe sewing.

I do not have the figure for skinny jeans. Therefore I hate them. :)

The problem is that far too many people who do not have skinny legs try to get away with wearing skinny jeans.  :-\\\\

I'm not a fan either.  Most people who have skinny legs don't want their legs to look "chicken-y" and therefore don't wear these.  Most people I see wearing them...shouldn't be.

Regardless of body size/type...I don't think they look nice at all.  I would prefer to see someone in jeggings if they want a "fitted" look.  And men wearing skinny jeans is just...

I like men in skinny jeans, if they're the rail thin hipster, studenty type. My heart belongs to Matthew Gray Gubbler and his ilk :)

Also I don't believe in the body fascism of not wearing something if you're not skinny etc. I have not a problem with seeing the real curve and shape of someone's body, I don't think clothes should always be forced to make you look as thin as possible, I really  like when people emphasize their shape with tight fitting clothes. Who am I to judge when someone shouldn't be wearing something?

I'm a size 18, rocking the skinnies today, not caring what other people think :)

There are far worst things to wear than skinny jeans if you're talking about things looking unflattering, like "mom" jeans which people are devoted to! But then if I was on the other side of 30 I'd probably say the opposite.

Being old doesn't mean you automatically have bad style. I'm 36 and I don't wear "mom" jeans. I have skinny jeans and I don't have skinny legs. I'm 36, not 95.

I have a pair on old navy mom jeans - I wear house wise - they are comfy...

I gave my skinny "literally skinny fit and skinny/thin" jeans to DSD and she lives in them!

I dont mind a fitting pair of jeans and I do own a pair of gray jeggings which I never thought I would wear.

I dont think it matters size - it matters fit....get the right size to "fit" you properly with the proper top and WHAM you can look fab in any size.

I'm not actually saying that. Just implying that people's perception of "bad" style is personal, what I consider to be right for me is not right for someone else and vice versa but in actuality I don't look down on Mom jeans on other people. It's all about what makes you happy, confident etc.  I think that it's how you wear things rather than what you're wearing which determines how good you look, Beth Ditto in PVC looks amazing to me as she totally owns it.

You say you're 36 not 95, so is it at 95 people have bad style? Are you saying mom jeans are bad style? Because I'm not. :)

I'm just not into this heavy judgement of other women based on clothing choices, if someone feels happy in what they're wearing, why is it anyone else's business?!

I'm so out of touch with fashion that I don't know what Mom jeans are.   :-[

I love my Mom jeans - I even didn't know they are called that until I read it on this website!  Lol!  :D

I feel relaxed & comfortable in them - maybe they look horrible - but I don't care!  ;D

I'm at home in them more than anywhere else & if I'm out with my friends, they tend to be looking at my face, not my jeans.  :P

Skinny jeans, flares, jeggings, etc - if you like them, why not?

That's my feelings on the subject.  Everyone can have something look crappy on them if it doesn't fit right.

Plus, the punk me from my teenage years still very much doesn't care what other people think about what I'm wearing, despite the fact that I don't wear dog chains and The Damned back patches anymore!   :P :)
