I'm just not into this heavy judgement of other women based on clothing choices, if someone feels happy in what they're wearing, why is it anyone else's business?!

It's not anyone's business, but we all judge. It's just normal human behaviour. You yourself said that you like "rail thin, hipster studenty" type men in skinny jeans. But what about chunky beefy blokes?  ;)

I stand by my claim that skinny jeans only look good on certain people. It's not about wanting to look skinny - I don't want to look rail thin, but then I don't wear skinny jeans either. And nobody's saying anyone should or shouldn't wear what makes them happy. At the same time, nobody's going to stop me (or anyone else) from judging.

Don't judge me for judging!  ;D

That's it - maybe I'm punk!  [smiley=Mr-T.gif]  <---we don't have a punk smiley (I don't think?) so I just used Mr T.

You just might be!  Punk is an attitude, not a style! ;D

Too right!  I'm a very plump 46-year-old gal in Mom jeans, a baggy T-shirt, ratty fleece & hiking socks, with attitude - lots of attitude!  Now I'm off to show that washing up who's boss.  :P

(when I walk down to Morrisons later, I will put on a bra though - in case anyone might be judging, or just to keep people from getting hurt in any case)

I've worn mom jeans for ages. ;) I really dislike the fit of low-rise jeans, and skinny jeans, and anything else that feels like I can't move properly. (I also dislike the look of flared jeans on me, so I stick with "boring" stuff - straight leg/boot cut, mid/high waist.)

I figure I may not look that exciting, but at least I won't look constantly depressed/angsty about how my clothes aren't comfortable. (And hell, they're jeans, right? Jeans are supposed to be comfortable, that's the point!)

I'm not actually saying that. Just implying that people's perception of "bad" style is personal, what I consider to be right for me is not right for someone else and vice versa but in actuality I don't look down on Mom jeans on other people. It's all about what makes you happy, confident etc.  I think that it's how you wear things rather than what you're wearing which determines how good you look, Beth Ditto in PVC looks amazing to me as she totally owns it.

You say you're 36 not 95, so is it at 95 people have bad style? Are you saying mom jeans are bad style? Because I'm not. :)

I'm just not into this heavy judgement of other women based on clothing choices, if someone feels happy in what they're wearing, why is it anyone else's business?!

But you said that if you were on 'the other side of 30 then you might consider it [i.e. suddenly finding "mom" jeans flattering]. Why would something you found unflattering at 29, suddenly become flattering at 30?

And to answer your question, yes, I do think "mom" jeans are bad style. That's why I don't wear them. But, if someone else wants to wear them, no matter what age they are, then they can knock themselves out. People can wear whatever they want.

I don't like them either. Wouldn't buy them for myself, rarely see others wearing them and think "That looks great." Most trends are over in 18 months, which means I don't have to look at it that long and probably won't ever think of it again - until I review photos a decade later and think "Oh yeah, that happened."

But, I love fashion just a little, because of the photographic record. I love seeing a seriously trendy thing in photos 10 or 20 years later. Makes great photos.

I don't wear skinny jeans, but I do have a pair of, I guess 'skinny' black trousers. But they are ONLY worn with my black boots and a butt covering (but waist enhancing) sweater.

Aside from that, it's boot-cut all the way with  a waistband just below the belly button. Any lower and I get too stressed about gaposis in the back and my knickers showing, or worse - getting pulled down by my jeans!  :o

Personally I don't care about what is or is not in style.  I wear what I want...what is comfortable or what I think makes me look nice and build my confidence.

I don't particularly like skinny jeans and don't think they look flattering on anyone (this is mainly due to the fact that 98% of the people I see wearing them have on the incorrect size).  It's not being judgemental...it's discussing your personal opinion on a subject.

From a male perspective, here we have somebody in regular jeans:

And here we have skinny jeans:

you can never go wrong dressing like pitt or clooney

See, I think Brad Pitt's jeans are far too baggy. There must be a happy medium!

Russell Brand wears the extreme of men's skinny jeans.  There are, in fact, skinny jeans for men that won't cut off the circulation to the family jewels!

Yes, and he's actually not that 'rail thin' type either.

Brad's jeans are a bit too baggy. But I'd take that any day over Brand. Ick.
