Topic: Buying a home in the UK -- transferring downpayment money from US?  (Read 1231 times)

What are the pros and cons of doing this (in terms of taxes, exchange rates, other legalities)? Has anyone done it, and how did it work out?

Don't know if it's too late to answer!

Have a look at the currency exhange specialists who can get better rates than the high street banks on larger sums of money.

I did it 7 years ago -- you will need to pay taxes on anything you remit to the UK if you haven't already, so that can be a downside of using US money for the downpayment.
