Yellow Ribbons anywhere?
« on: April 04, 2003, 02:26:43 PM »
I saw last week a report on the BBC News about an American woman in Stoke-on-Trent who had started a yellow ribbon campaign in her neighborhood. I would have posted this on the weekend if the board hadn't gone down. But I've wanting to know if anyone has seen any yellow ribbons up anywhere? I've been wondering if the Brits might take to this tradition.

Campaign may not have been the right choice in words, but my meaning was that she was convincing the neighbors to hang yellow ribbons in support of the troops.

Here's the article at BBC
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2874165.stm

And according to that article, it is a campaign after all. ;)

It's not unheard of here.  I know when John McCarthy was a hostage years ago, there was a yellow ribbon campaign.
